Vehicle Detail

This car was purchased new in December 1940 by a friend of my mother. In 1975, when she turned 82, she decided she was to old to drive any more and she gave it to me. I drove it for a few months while going to college. When it needed a tuneup I changed the points and plugs, but found that my timing light was broken and I couldn't get the car timed so it would start. With winter coming, I decided to leave the car in the garage and buy a new car. While I have moved the car several times, it has not been turned over since 1975. The engine has frozen up from sitting. For a time, the car sat under a tarp at a storage facility which caused the oxidation and rust on the top and hood. The title has been lost and when I tried to apply for a copy, I found that the State had purged the original records. There are a few dents made by the original owner and the metal just behind both front fenders is rusted out. The car is missing a coil and I have no idea when or where it went. A headlight was broken during a towing and the driver's side wing window was broken out when someone, who thought the car was abandoned, tried to take the car from an apartment complex parking lot. All the rest of the car is complete and original. The mileage is all original miles. The odometer has not turned over. The headliner is torn and the seat back is frayed but the fabric is all the original camel hair interior. The only thing that didn't work when I was driving the car was the clock on the dashboard. I was going to give the car to my son who wanted to restore it, but when he lost his job after 13 years with a company because of the recession, he knew he could no longer have that dream. I will give whatever proceeds I get from the auction to him to help offset his accumulating bills. Whoever purchases the car will need to make arrangements to pick it up and transport it away from where it is currently being stored by the last Sunday in August. The home where it is garaged will be going to foreclosure on a reverse mortgage after that date.
