Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a Willys Jeep hot rod rat rod built using nearly all vintage parts. Leaf sprung rear suspension using Jeep springs and C-notched frame. Hairpin front suspension with suicide axle and transverse-mounted leaf spring. The frame is from a '55 M38A1. Much stronger and more ridged than a typical hot rod frame (its from a 4x4 military Jeep). The body tub is from a late '40s Willys Jeep CJ-2A. The grille is from a mid '40s WWII MB/GPW military Jeep. Lexan windshield and copper pipe windshield frame, factory steel CJ-2A windshield frame also included, no glass and needs to be chopped. The engine is a 1964 GM 194 inline-six with a Pertronix ignition. It's a different-looking engine. One-wire GM alternator. The tranny is a 50's GM SM420 four-speed manual. The rear axle is from a late 70s Ford F150, it's a Ford 9-inch with a nodular center section, 3.90 gears, and a limited-slip. The front axle is from '48 Willys pickup. The seat is a chopped '48 Willys pickup piece. Real vintage Jeep seatbelts. Hidden Optima Yellow Top battery and hidden electrical cut-off switch with key. No key to start. It has hydraulic large manual drum brakes all around with a residual pressure valve. Stainless braided AN- brake lines. Stops good since it's light. Push-pull steering box from a '48 Willys pickup. The wheels are steel from an early Jeepster, 30x9.50 radial tires. Five-gallon Gerry can fuel tank mounted on rear. The Jeep is two-wheel drive. If you are looking for a fancy show car to spit and polish, this ain't it. The body is very rough and not even close to perfect but it is solid. Tool box under flip-forward passenger seat is still there and usable. Clean title, registered in California. It was featured in Jp Magazine as the Sloppy Seconds project Jeep, see more here: http://www.jpmagazine.com/projectbuild/154_0910_jeep_rat_rod_sloppy_seconds_part_one/index.html http://www.jpmagazine.com/projectbuild/154_0911_sloppy_seconds_part_2_drivetrain/index.html http://www.jpmagazine.com/projectbuild/154_1003_project_sloppy_seconds_part_3/index.html Once payment is made I can deliver the Jeep all or part way to some Los Angeles and San Diego areas. I also have the Jeep listed locally so auction could end early. On Jul-31-10 at 07:24:05 PDT, seller added the following information:Jeep runs and drives.
