This 1971 Fastback is a terrific find for the Type 3 fan. The body has been restored to nearly-new condition.My sister fell in love with this car when she bought it a couple of years ago. She was going to have it completely restored. Unfortunately, she died before completing the project. The body shop has completely restored the body. The bill for the restoration was $7,200. Like I said, my sister really loved the car! (I don’t expect to get $7,200 out of the car, but I wanted bidders to know what kind of work has already gone into it.)Things to note: The car does not have bumpers, hood VW badge, molding strips, antenna or spare tire. Mechanical conditionMy sister said the man she bought it from had installed a new/rebuilt Volkswagen Bug engine in it. (See detail photo of engine. If you have questions about the engine or want more photos, please e-mail me.) I had my mechanic check out the car. He said it is sound, starts well and runs well. He said it needs work on the exhaust, because it is noisy. He said the only other thing he could find was that it leaks oil a little, like most VWs of that era do. InteriorThe interior is in fairly good shape. There are a couple of rips on the front seats.
