In the AMC family the Hornet is one of my very favorite cars. Not too small not too big just a great size vehicle. I totatlly love this car and I bought it with the intension to restore it although I do have to let it go since I cannot have a warehouse full of projects. This Hornet is very much similar like the Hornet in the Movie "The Man with the golden gun". Same exact color lobster red although this Hornet has the 258 6 in line cilinder that actually runs great. The engine is very strong and after a little tune up and came alive beautifully. Automatic on the floor which is another great feature on this car as well as the front disc brakes. Amazingly the tags are up to date and current. This car was parked for several years and since it does not need smog the owner judt paid registration every year. This is the hatchback model which has the very big trunk lid that opens up. I actually put new strouts in the back so the back lid stays up all the way and goes down at ease. This is a California Car and for the majority I was not expecting much rust if any although after some accurate inspection I found some rust forming across the rocker panel moulding. I took the passenger side off just to see how much rust it had but I left hte driver side on. It is a bit of a shame since if this car would not have had those mouldings could have been a rust free car. Other than that this Hornet is extremely solid and a great candidate for a good restoration. The previous owner occasionally used this car to tow a small utility trailer so a very exciting feature is that it has heavy duty leaft springs and it gives the car that muscle car a bit aggressive look. California blue/yellow plates, original paint and color, floor shifter, front disc brakes and A/C car which I was not able to turn it on so I do not know if it still works although I would doubt if it did. This Hornet comes with the original rims and hubcaps although I do have a set of AMC magnum 500 Wheels which look great on it. I post pictures with the original wheels and the Mag 500 just to compare. The Magnum 500 might be available for sale to the winning bidder.
