Vehicle Detail
1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340, 4spd, 8 3/4 3:23 Sure Grip differential. All original numbers matching engine, transmission and rear differential. All original rust free sheet metal with no patches including, floors, frame, trunk, quarters, doors, hood, trunk lid, and fenders. A vinyl top was on the car when I bought it, even though the car did not have one originally per the fender tag. It came with a new vinyl top from Legendary that I had installed after I first got it, and that was mainly because I didn't know everything about the fender tag at that time. There are a lot fewer cars out there with their original sheet metal, but that is what I look for when I want to purchase a car. Rust free cars are much harder to find, and lots of people claim to have rust free cars that are not. Yes and all cars have some fine surface rust on different components. One repaint in the factory Hemi orange that is still very nice. There are a few minor paint chips. Body is very straight. Glass and stainless are very nice with the exception of the drip rail, and rear window mouldings. Drip rail mouldings, and the rear window mouldings were damaged when the top was replaced, but I have a polished set of drip rail moldings, and a nice rear window molding set that goes with the car. Back window seal needs replaced as it was either damaged by top people, or has separated. It has about a 1 inch gap which I am not sure how that came to be. Factory options include Music Master AM Radio, Black BumbleBee Stripe, wheel lip mouldings, belt mouldings, grille surround moulding, chrome tips exhaust, Moulding group - Drip rail and deck lid lower mouldings, Hood tie down pins, Deluxe vinyl bench seat, 340 4bbl engine, 4spd manual transmission. The trunk lid mouldings were removed by the previous owner, and he tossed them, so I do not have them. There are a few things on the fender tag that I am not sure of what they are. M88, N42, G33, M21. Carpet and seat covers replaced from Legendary Interiors. Interior is very nice and dash pad has no cracks. Engine rebuilt around 73,000 miles, and then the odometer was rolled back to 0 by the previous owner. The car has less than 3500 miles since being rebuilt. Car runs and drives excellent with no issues. Currently has an original Chrysler Edelbrock 340/6 pack manifold installed with carbs that were NOS when installed after the motor was rebuilt. That is also a factory Chrysler air cleaner setup with part numbers still visible. The car has headers, and Mopar Performance valve covers. I have all of the original engine parts that are in very good condition, and they go with the car providing the reserve is met. This would include exhaust manifolds, valve covers, intake and carburetor, and air cleaner. The emblems, wiper posts, were NOS when installed around 3500 miles ago. The bumpers were rechromed, and also the scoop trim. The things added are the vinyl top, performance hood treatment paint, factory NOS tach, and Factory Go Wing. The owner before me had the car since 1987, so it was off the road as a regular driver from that point forward. I got the car from Washington State when I purchased it in 2004. Everything works properly that I know of, with the exception that the wipers don't park when you turn them off, and the radio doesn't work. I have looked at lots of cars over the years and the body is truly what I say it is. I have recently looked at other cars claiming to be rust free and they were hideous patched up hulks. The interior is very nice as well. There is no worry on anyones part as to the condition of the car. If you were to bid on this car, and the body or anything is not what I say it is, then you would not be obligated to buy it. I would not represent this car as something that it wasn't. I nit pick my cars to death as far as imperfections. I would never say I couldn't make a mistake. No car is perfect, but this one is very nice. I do not have a build sheet with the car. I welcome anyone to come out to inspect the car, or to have a private inspection done for you. I don't believe you would be disappointed in the condition of this car. The only reason I am selling is to downsize my number of cars, and to look for a just as nice convertible. This car will be for sale locally, and could be pulled off at any time. There is no warranty on this car. My email is tbaker1@indy.rr.com and my cell is (317) 439 - 7153. I am not always able to check my email because of my job, but always have my cell phone. Evenings are best to call. I will answer any questions to the best of my ability. I can take any pictures of anything specific you might want to see. I am not going to reveal the reserve on here, but it is a bit more than half of the amount from average retail to high retail in the NADA guide. If you wanted to put the car back to original, I believe you could get around $3000.00 for the intake setup with air cleaner alone. It is ready to bolt on, and needs nothing. Deposit required within 48 hours of sale. Full payment within 10 days.
