Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my dependable daily driver, a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe. This car has 62,653 original miles, and I bought it from the original owner at 55k miles. The following work was done in 2006-7: Hydraulic brake system rebuilt with new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, steel lines, rubber hoses, and master cylinder, Fuel sytem rebuilt with new steel and rubber lines, new/re-built fuel pump, re-built carb, in-line fuel filter, gas tank boiled out, Original "honeycomb" radiator boiled out and pressure tested, new hoses & coolant, new/rebuilt water pump, block flushed, and 5 new Dayton Quadra Se P20575R15 Steel belt radials(Tires are now at about 75-80% tread). I added 6 seat belt sets to protect my family, sorry, I know they didn't "have" them. I also added a fire extinguisher, and used existing holes to mount it. The car is a 6 volt "Positive" ground system, so I installed a converter(6v Pos to 12v Neg) and wired it into the cigarette lighter, so I could use modern electronics in the car. I had the AM radio repaired last year, and hid an FM converter in the glove box, so I could play the 40's music from my XM radio(The FM radio converter is included, but the XM radio is NOT included). The car has the straight 6 cylinder 218, with "3 on the tree" 3 speed shifter on the column. While the car runs well, with plenty of power and speed, the engine is starting to exhibit signs of age, with minor noises and slight 'blow-by' thru the oil breather cap. The car has the original interior with some tears on the driver's side of the front seat, and some staining on the rear seat. The headliner is intact, but dark and stained from age. It looks like paint(?) was spilled on the rear deck, there's a big white dried blob, with staining around it. The carpet has shrunk a little I guess, and the front is all rubber mat, with some wear thru on the driver's side. The running board sill rubber is all good, with a small piece broken off on the driver's side. There is surface rust on the underside of the car, but NO RUST THROUGH! The original paint has spots of paint breakdown(?) rust underneath(?) I'm not sure what it is, but it's on both sides and fenders. The the pans behind the front and rear bumpers both have surface rust, and the grille and trunk protectors mounted to the bumpers have surface rust. The vacuum wipers work well. I installed yellow LED lights in the front marker/turn signals. The car runs and drives well, and passes PA State Inspection. All gauges work, although the gas gauge is off since it was put back in without the adjustment being correct. The odometer recently stopped working, and when it's cold, the speedometer needle bounces around, even though I installed a new speedo cable this past winter. The radial tires really make for a nice ride. All the doors open close and lock, all the side and rear glass is good, with the exception of a crack in the passenger side front door window. The front windshield glass is good, but needs polished since there is acid rain streaking. The spotlight is all there, but not working. I use it as my daily driver, but don't drive it in the snow, or when rock salt has been used. I'm only selling it because I need the $money, more than I need the car. The car is currently PA State Inspected, and has a clear PA Title. A reproduction service manual, and a box of assorted spare parts go with the car. A $200.00 Deposit is due at auction's end, and balance due in 7 days. The car is sold AS-IS WHERE IS, no warranties are expressed or implied. A $200 deposit via PayPal is due 24 hours from auction's end. Cash at time of pick-up for the balance due is best. Contact me if you need to make special payment arrangements, prior to auction's end. I can store the car outside until pick-up, and can assist in loading. SHIPPING ARANGEMENTS AND COSTS ARE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY. Please don't wait until the last day to ask questions! This is a working repair shop, and I'm not always on the computer. I reserve the right to end the auction early, as the car is for sale locally! I will NOT reveal my reserve, nor will I end the auction early with a Buy-it-now. Please check out my other auctions! Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
