Vehicle Detail

Up for bid/sale is a stunning 1958 Ford Fairlane Skyliner (Retractable). This car has been stored in a "garage", not driven in winter or rain and only driven on special occasion since I purchased this car in Aug 2001. I do know the previous owner (son of original owner) also keep it in a "garage" as well. I have only put 10,000 miles on the car in the last 9 years. The car is believed to be a numbers matching and the current 53,000 miles appear to be original, but undocumented. It would make an good driver or even better an excellent candidate for total restoration and show since it has prime color combinations and options and is well documented. Also a good money maker for wedding. To the best of my knowledge, this car has only been repainted one time, approx 15 years ago in original colors, and the seat covers were done about a year ago. All the original items on this car still work, to include the cigarette lighter, clock, power windows, power retractable top, Town and Country tube radio and vacuum windshield wipers/with foot operated windshield washer. The car also comes with the original build sheet, retail buyer's order, bill of sale, owner's manual, shop manual and original Ford Parts catalog for 1958 Ford Cars. Suitcases in trunk will not go it car. CAR’s HISTORY: This Skyliner was produced at the FORD plant located in Kansas City, Missouri on 13 March 1958. It was the 35,821 automobile to roll off the assembly line (documented by serial number). Since Ford only assigned serial numbers based on automobiles produced at a plant rather than by models during this era, it is unknown what sequence number of the 14,713 Skyliners produced in 1958 belongs to this particular automobile. The car was then shipped to a Ford Dealership in Boulder Colorado (Arnold Bros. Motor Co) and purchased by Mr. Edward P. Meyer of Boulder Colorado on 24 March 1958 for $4,379.17. He used a 1954 Ford Convertible, valued at $1,803.67 as a trade-in (both documented by original buyer's order and bill of sale). The car remained registered to the Meyer's family in Boulder Colorado until I purchased it in August 2001 (documented by title). Car has a clear Indiana title in my name. Chrome trim/bumpers are shiny but they do have few parking lot dings. Rear bumper was used by former owner to tow something so it pulled out just a little around the license plate area but nothing major. It could be straighten and rechromed but not necessary for driver. Interior: Dash was replaced about 10 years ago due to cracks from sun. Seat covers were replaced with original style covers about 1 year ago due to being sun bleach and driver’s side of front seat was starting the tear. Carpet is believed to be original and in good condition, Drive Train: 352 CI engine run fine with lots of power and does not smoke or leak oil/water but does need lead additive added to gas. It starts right up unless car set for over 3 days. It's best to add a little starter fluid or you will need to crank it a little but will be fine again, this in normal for older ford cars. Radiator was replaced with a 4 core radiator, but original radiator will go with car. Water pump and starter replaced about 6 months ago, but the old ones still works and will go with cart, make good back-ups. Transmission works fine and does not leak, was rebuilt by AAMCO about 10 years ago. Front brake shoes and cylinders were replaced about a year ago. Rear ones were not replaced but have the shoes that will go with the car. Top works fine and have extra back-up parts (Motor, solenoid's, locking screws, limit switches, circuit breakers) that will also go with car.
