Vehicle Detail
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu - 327 Small Block, 89206 miles on the body (actual odometer reading), about 1000 miles on the rebuilt engine. It's door post body, a little more rare than non-post bodies. The motor is from a '68 Chevelle. It was rebuilt about 10 years ago by MARCO Machine Shop in Johnson City, Tn.. We removed the block, took everything in it and on it off, and replaced it with new components. The block itself was the only thing we reused. Trick Flow "Twisted Wedge" aluminum heads, Edlebrock manifold, Holley 600 cfm carb, bored .30 over. Can't remember the brand of headers. The engine is super strong and sounds great. The rear end and front end were both redone at this time, and include all new parts. The rear end gear is stock and if I recall correctly it's a 3:73. It matches up perfectly. Transmission is a 350 turbo 3 speed. It was rebuilt, has all new seals and is in great operating condition. The body is in pretty good shape, though I would do a complete frame-off. It needs paint, weather stripping/interior kit, and some body work to get it right but is totally driveable as is. If I were going to leave it as is I would at least replace the rear seat. Dash is still in good shape. Glass is all original. Bumpers need re-chroming. The rear one has a small hole about an inch or 2 across that will need to be patched. It's under the blue sticker on the right side. Tires are BF Goodrich and are in great shape. The Crager rims are also in great shape, with only a small amount of rust. Has a brand new battery. The original radio was removed at some point and an old cassette player installed in its place. All in all, it's a great car with a ton of potential. I have owned it for 15 years and it has been on concrete under a metal cover for it's time with me, housed right beside my '73 Caddy. No sitting around in a field here. It's probably never sat in the grass. It was in Southwest Virginia for the first 30 years of its life and has been in Tennessee for the last 15. Clean Tennessee title. I have over 10K invested in the motor alone, and think that the opening bid is more than fair. I have a folder at home somewhere with all of the paperwork for the things we did to the car. I will try to find it this evening and give a more detailed description of all the work that was done. I'll miss this thing terribly, but we just had our second daughter and the wife and I have some medical bills to pay. I could really use the money these days. If you need additional pics let me know. I have listed it with a fair opening bid and there will be NO RESERVE!! Buyer is responsible for pick-up. A $500 deposit via Paypal is due at the end of auction and full payment in the form of a cashier's check is due within 7 days.
