Vehicle Detail

Getting down to the last and best BMWs from my collection. Up for bidding is my 1973-BMW 2002tii which I thought I would never sell. But, lifestyle changes and age changes one's priorities. This is the 2002tii to have because it is a rare 1973 model which was a stike year for BMW and the production numbers were low. Plus it is the last year for the round taillights. I bought this car from the wife of a fellow BMW enthusiast in late 2001 after his death. I had known the car well for nearly 20 years before he passed away. The previous owner was a devoted admirer of this car and a bit obsessed with making sure it always was well taken care of. He was silly about buying extra parts for the car just in case he needed anything in the future. Accordingly all spare parts go with the car in this auction including nearly an entire set of beltline molding, new water pump second set of wheel covers, side marker lights, case of oil filters, etc. The car was originally purchased in Indianapolis but I believe was used in Florida for the most part as a vacation car. My friend was not the original owner, but I believe he was the 2nd owner. That helps explain the excellent overall condition of the car and the low miles. The exterior of the car has the original Chamonix white paint on every body panel except the trunk lid. When I bought the car there were several scratches on the trunk lid so I had it repainted about 8 years ago. The paint match is perfect and matches the condition of the rest of the paint. There is NO RUST issues on the body of this awesome little car. The only paint imperfections are a few rock chips that have been touched up and some places where the paint is a little thin from being buffed over the years. The paint has a brilliant shine and really needs nothing at this point I tried to take pictures of areas that knowledgeable people would want to see. Underneath the car is solid with no rust issues in the floor pans, shock towers, rockers, or trunk. Again, pics are worth a thousand words so look closely at how clean the car is underneath. The interior is the original blue seats and door panels that came with the car when new. They are in excellent shape with no rips or tears. The dash has a couple of very small cracks, but nothing major. The headliner is very clean and well attached in all places. The carpet was switched out by the previous owner because he didn't care for the original carpet color..it is like new. Please note that the sill plate covers are missing as they were when I bought the car, but they are readily available from a number of sources for reasonable money. Mechanically the car runs and drives great like these cars should. The engine is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. The exhaust is about three years old and in great condition. The tires have less than 500 miles on them. When I decided to sell the car, I drove it daily for a week or two and experienced a problem with one of the front brake calipers. As a result, I replaced both front calipers and brake pads. The brakes are excellent now. The headlights, taillights, backup lights, brake lights, turn signal light, etc all work properly on this car I also experienced an issue with the windshield wipers and have not diagnosed the problem yet as being a switch, relay, or motor. I am hopeful that I will find time to address it before the auction ends, but no promises. Finally, the car can be a little tough to start when cold or left sitting for an extended period of time. I have diagnosed the problem as a faulty thermo timing switch, but have not replaced it as of yet I have downloaded 24 pictures of various aspects of the car for your review. I have probably that many more available that will show the underneath side of the car in pretty good detail and more of the interior. I will send them on request and will gladly take pics of any area of the car that a serious buyer wants to see. Just send me your email address and the specific area you want to see. I am not sure what the value of this car is and I do want to sell it quickl;y. I put a modest starting bid for the car and a Buy it Now that should be appealing to the 2002 enthusiast. The pricing is fair but I am also open to offers from serious enthusiasts to end the auction early. If the Buy it Now is used and payment is made as prescribed in the listing, I will make sure the wipers function, buy and install the sill plate covers, and address the cold start issue. I have tried to fully describe this vehicle and point out any issues that I am aware of that would be of interest to a prospective buyer. There are no warranties expressed or implied with regards to the purchase/sale of this vehicle. As such, all sales are final. The car is being advertised in multiple venues and this auction is subject to being canceled at any time.
