Vehicle Detail

Here is an original 1978 AMC AMX Concord. True AMX with the sixth digit being a 9 (AMX) and with the seventh an H denoting an original 304 V8 car. It is also Kenosha built. Rare and unique one year only car. Just over 1900 total units made. The production numbers include six cylinder cars. Specific model breakdown of V8 cars total around 750. Some believe numbers are slightly higher depending the source. There are many experts and really depends who you believe. I am not an expert though. However it is believed less then 200 of 6's and V8's survive today. One thing for sure is they seldom pop up on ebay and that is a sure indicator that these in any condition are tough to find. This AMX is a rough old survivor. I found it stored in an old garage in the heart of Amish country in PA. Car is painted black and looks OK but is the more rare Quick Silver edition. An original V8 car with automatic trans and disc brakes. Car now has a 360 AMC engine. I was told when I bought the car it had mods but have no documentation to verify it. It needs work and to be honest I haven't spent alot of time with it and do not know much about it. I am trying to finish another AMC at the moment. The engine does have headers, exhaust exits in front of rear tires and an electronic ignition. On the inside there is a B&M competition reverse lockout shifter. It has been stored for many years. It has a signed PA title. The car passed strict PA inspection in 2003. (have the reciept) The dash still has the correct silver finish inserts and the AMX nameplate on the glove box door. The original tach was removed and has a Sun Super II now. There is no radio. The interior is as pictured. It is black and looks original and not too beat. Should clean up fine. Will need carpet. It appears to have the typical rust on the drivers rocker and the top of the drivers fender. The hood has hood pins installed. The floor on the drivers side have scale and may have been patched. The drivers side rear is about the same scale wise. There is a dime size hole on the passenger side front floor pictured. I didn't finish ripping out the carpet on the passenger side rear for just a look. The under side structure looks nice where it should. I do not have underside pics. Looks to have recent strut bushings and new parts on the front end. Doors and quarters look good. The trunk pan (inside of the hatch) is solid as is the hatch itself AND LOOK at those louvers! No they will not be sold seperate and Yes I know they bring big money. The motor will run and trans shifts all three times however I am selling it as non running as it needs a battery. It started and ran when I purchased it and drove it local around the house. (I live in the country and can drive and test things on the backroads if you know what I mean!) but has been sitting. So plan on hauling it. (I have a shipper if needed) It rolls and has brakes to load. It will also need an ignition switch on the steering column it will have to be started by jumping across the solonoid on the inner fender apron under the hood or simply a hand held remote. The previous owner installed a hidden on off switch to prevent theft so it may be as simple as removing the hidden switch. The tires are good. This unique car shares the same structure as the Hornet,Gremlin,Spirit and Eagle so if you require parts it should be easy locate. The Hornet/Concord Hatchback is a great looking car even today. Regular examples not counting the AMX seem to have a low survival rate. New for 78 is the dash layout. This was used on later Concords,Spirits and Eagles and is a step above the old Gremlin/Hornet layout. One change that was made starting a year later AMC installed plastic inner fenders to keep splash and debris from getting under the front fenders and door post and lower rockers. A common problem on 1978 and earlier AMC's. A simple inexpensive mod you can do and the parts are still easy to locate. *Please Note* The Concord vanity plate on the rear is not part of the sale* I am selling as is and as seen. Again you are buying a non running project car that needs work. It is not perfect in any way and consider it junk. You know what you are looking at. If you do not have the ability to judge a car and the means to work on it do not bid. It will need a complete restoration. You are welcome to inspect in person by appointment before auction ends. There will be no inspections after auction has ended. I take Paypal in my other collectable auctions however not on vehicles. I will require a $300. non refundable deposit sent overnight after the auction, Payment in full within 7 days. I will accept moneyorders, cash on pickup after your deposit has been recieved or bank wire (from your bank to mine) I would like the car to be picked up within 3 weeks or unless other arrangements have been made prior. I do have a transporter who could assist in shipping. Please email any questions. I do my best to describe but may miss something important to you. Please do your own dilligence. If you do not understand this listing please do not bid. If you have 0 or little feedback email first before you bid. Thanks for looking and be sure to check out my AMC powered Bricklin! For the non AMC enthusiast looking for something different take note. AMC's are better investments then you may think so get one while the price is right. You just may like them after all. There is an alternative!
