Vehicle Detail
1955 chevy 2dr coupe. Number one grass roots hot rod of all time. This car has new inner and outer rocker panels, new center long floor brace, the lower part of the quarter panel both sides has been replaced. The front floors also are new. Back floors are yet to be done. Frame off last winter, frame coated with POR 15, new leaf springs installed, new body mounts installed. Also, the springs were moved inboard to make more room for wide tires on rear. Mini tubs need to be done in conjunction with the rear floors. These are mostly flat and should not be difficult. Front was the hard part and is pretty much done. Not much rust left. The only filler is just above the rear side windows on both sides at the drip rail. It has been filled and the headlights both need caps which are available. The firewall was massaged for a big block and frame has brackets for rear crossmember. Rear end is stock, also coated with POR15. Front and rear windshields are ok, other than a bb size nick. Side glass is junk, tires hold air but are junk also. Doors need a new skin extending about half way up. The trunk has to be slightly altered to move the springs inward and a relief hole cut on both sides for the ends. As far as rust, it has some pinhole spots towards the middle, but the sides where it contacts the car are ok. The trunk lid is in good shape, but the bolts holding it to the hing broke on one side when it was removed. Will need to be drilled out, maybe retapped. In case you're wondering why the new metal in the front floors looks rusty, they come pre-rusted when you buy them. Actually, it flash rust and they do come that way. There is one floor brace that could be replaced, debatable. I'll leave that up to the new owner. The car has a small dent in passenger side rear corner of roof. Should be an easy fix to pull out. A picture is posted, but it is difficult to see. If you have a specific request, let me know. No front seat, driveshaft, transmission or motor. No headliner or door panels, or hood hinges. Have a bunch of miscellaneous parts will take a photo of and post. This is basically a rolling shell. The body was a standard shift and the clutch setup is still intact. The dash is uncut, just needs cleaning up/paint. This body has 72,000 miles and is from southern indiana. I have a clear title signed off by the previous owner. Best part, it's a 55 Chevy, the body is not gone and you don't have to go to california or florida to get it. The body panels are welded on, but more welding and grinding will need to be done to get a finished look. You are welcome to come and look at the car anytime and encouraged to do so. The BUY IT NOW price is less than I have invested in the car. I also have a big block chevy engine and we can dicker on the price if you're interested. Its a car engine and has 10,000 miles since rebuild. New 480 holley, headers and an RV Cam. I'll give the auction winner first shot. I have burned out on this car and lost interest. In case there's anyone out there that's going to email me and ask, NO, you can't drive it home. You will need to bring a trailer. If anyone has a shortbed stepside chev/gmc truck 60-66, we could talk a trade. Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end auction at any time without notice.
