Vehicle Detail
1972 OLDSMOBILE 442 / 455 V-8 CONVERTIBLE P/S, P/B, Air. I bought this car at a Mecum Auction in the spring of 2010 (6 months ago). I simply don't have room for it (have too many cars), but this car gets more compliments than all of my other cars combined (Porsche, Maserati, Lotus, etc, etc). Everybody loves this bright red convertible muscle car!! The car runs great and is a fantastic daily driver. Very reliable. The engine has been rebuilt (before I bought it) and runs very well--will spin the tires if you want! The block appears to be origninal (I'm also told that it is), but the heads are aftermarket. Has a new stainless steel dual exhaust. Convertible top in excellent shape; convertible mechanism works great. New power window motors. This car was titled in California almost all of its life (old CA title comes with car) and there is no discernable rust. I have had the car on a lift numerous times (for storage) and there is no discernable rust. Previous owner has upgraded the front brakes to modern vented, cross drilled large front rotors (see pictures). Original rear brakes remain. Brakes are excellent. Has factory air conditioning--it works, but is over taxed in the Florida sun. Car has been re-painted within the past few years. It is the original RED color with white factory stripes. Original hood, and original trunk spoiler look great. Paint is good, but not great--looks fantastic (show quality) from 10 feet, but up close there are flaws in a number of places. Has new factory-style carpet. The interior is in great shape--you will be proud to leave the top down and let folks look inside--presents very well. No rips or problems with the white vinyl interior. Interior quality is a 9. This is a great muscle car that will never be worth less than it is today. It is not a show car, but a fantastic driver. Will be a huge hit at the local drive-in on a Friday night. Everybody loves this car, and it will transport you and a few friends in great style without worries. On Jul-05-10 at 18:26:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Note that I bought this car at a Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Florida on January, 31, 2010. I paid $27,000 for it at auction. I then put another $2800 into it when I got it home to improve a few things so I could drive it regularly without worries. It smelled of gas, so the gas tank was removed and a hole repaired (the previous owner put a screw into it when he was mounting his Jensen TriAx speakers). The tank was cleaned and made to look very good (professionally done by a tank-repair place). I also put in new front window motors for the electric windows. One of the turn signals didn't work, nor did one of the headlights--these were fixed also. My wife says she must have her side of the garage back for her car. This auction is a no-reserve auction. Play with this car for years and get your money back out of it. Needs nothing to drive daily.
