Vehicle Detail

1965 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE 289 52,000 MILES This was my fathers car. He bought it 6/21/1965 new from Parsons Ford in Binghamton NY. Back in 1992 after he retired he moved south and sold the car to me. My husband and I rolled it in the garage and have not touched it since about 1992. My father drove it very little after 1980, it mostly sat in his garage but he always kept it on the road., It was driven as everyday transportation for the first 10-15 years, (I got my first ride in it when I was 3 days old, I got brought home from the hospital in it) but sat in the garage the rest of the time. I never registered the car, I did sign the registration, but have the paper from DMV to turn it over, The car is very original. none of the drive train has ever been out of the car, only normal maintenance parts may not be original There was some body work done back in the late 70's and the car was repainted the original vintage burgundy. body seems to be very solid but had some repair many years ago, there is some scratches and small dings and some chipping paint but its' 45+years old. I believe behind both rear wheels have been repaired again back in the late 70's. My husband removed and cleaned the full fuel system this week, He replaced the gas tank and sending unit. Alt harness ,and muffler ,put in a new battery also replaced the fuel filter blew out all the steel fuel lines. On fathers day we started it for the first time since about 1992. Car started and ran very smooth! not even a tick! some light smoke, but he also put marvins in each cylinder a few days ago before we started it. Car ran very very very quiet. We did not drive it, because we did not put gas in the tank, just in case it does not sell. We put the fuel line from the pump to a gas can, to start it. He did not want gas sitting in the tank again. I'm told the worst part of the car is the floors, My dad said they need some repair. Its best to come and look at them if you are interested. they feel solid from the inside but he said they are rusty. Door tag 76a-x-29-21t-12-6-6 289-2v POWER TOP, BACK UP LIGHTS,AM RADIO,2SPD WIPERS,WHEEL COVERS WITH KNOCK OFF HUBS DRIVE TRAIN HAS NEVER BEEN OUT OF THE CAR. ALT HARNESS, CARPET, POSSIBLY THE CONVERTIBLE TOP, ALT BOLT,BATTERY BOX, GAS TANK,SENDING UNIT,MUFFLER,SHOCKS ARE THE ONLY ITEMS THAT I KNOW THAT ARE NOT ORIGINAL. ACCEPT NORMAL MAINTENANCE ITEMS (BELTS,HOSES,BRAKES)BRAKES SEEM TO WORK GREAT! WE HAVE PUSHED IT IN AND OUT OF THE GARAGE FOR YEARS, NEVER FROZE AND WORK GOOD.BUMPERS FADED BUT STRAIGHT AND DENT FREE. NEED CHROME, BUT GREAT CONDITIONALL THE GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT CONDITIONORIGINAL SPARE TIRE AND JACK/TOOLSORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT FROM WHEN DAD BOUGHT ITORIGINAL OWNERS MANUALORIGINAL CARB WAS REBUILT IN 1992SOME OF THE PICTURES BELOW SHOW A TRAILER HITCH, THAT HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED BUT INCLUDED IN THE SALE, MY FATHER OWNED A CANDY STORE AND USED A SMALL TRAILER TO PICK UP SUPPLY'S. AND PICTURES OF THE TRUNK SHOWS WHAT LOOKS LIKE WIRES, IT IS ACTUALLY AIR LINES FOR THE SHOCKS ALSO FROM THE LATE 70'SALL ORIGINAL UN HACKED WIRING. (SOME CONNECTORS I BELIEVE THEY WERE FOR TRAILER LIGHTS)CONVERTIBLE POWER TOP WORKSTIRES ARE VERY OLD AND DRY ROTTEDWe have not sugar coated any of the discription, we also can not discribe every part of the car in detail. if you have any questions please email us. We will do our best to answer you queston accurately. It is best to come and look at the car, this way there is no question. We only drove the car 1 time after buying it from my father. We have not tested the function of every part or know exactly what was done to it before we owned. My father is no longer with us so we will never know. Again, it's best to look at the car before bidding. I will also post a video to help show the condition and of it running. This was a driver that was taken care of, but is not perfect. Car will not be able to be driven, just because of how long it's been sitting please email us If you would like our phone number, $500 deposit via paypal due at end of auction. Balance AT PICK UP due in CASH only. No acceptions! Here is a link to a higher quality video of the car. this link is a lot better quality than the one at the bottom of the page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG3yRpMVa5A On Jun-26-10 at 13:33:42 PDT, seller added the following information: RESERVE IS SET UNDER 8K I have the transferable registration that my father signed over to me. I also signed at the time. I have the DYSDMV form mv51. this allows me to turn it over even with it signed. please check your state to make sure you don't need something different. I also notice a few spots on the floor under the tail of the transmission. Rear transmission seal may be starting to leak. On Jun-29-10 at 15:36:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Some answers to some repeat questions Yes there is a rip in the convertible top. Top is down now, but as I remember it is in the outer layer. also the stitching around the rear window needs repair. the spots on the hood is chipping paint. The gas can with the hose in it in the video was used so we did not have to put gas in the new gas tank. If for some reason the car does not sell, we were just going to cover it and let it sit. Its a new tank we did not want to put gas in it is it was going back in storage. It is ready for gas. Yes it is numbers matching,, Has to be, drive train has never been out of the car. condition of undercarriage, needs repair, It's 45 years old and sat most of it's life in NY. Looks rusty but to the untrained eye does not look horrible. it's best to look at it before bidding. From the inside the floors seem solid. My father said the bottom of the car needs to be fixed. no tires do not match. They are dry rotted and all 4 need to be replaced. no we can not arrange shipping. We can help loading, but shipping, No I would not drive the car any long distance. it sat for the last 17 years and only had a few miles on it 10 years before that. we have only driven the car 1 time when the car was turned over to us. It may drive just fine, but I would not do it with ANY car that sat this long. Aslo, 1 wire on the voltage regulator the connector came apart. Yellow wire. Easy fix, but at the moment it's not connected. Yes the riser tube present NO WE WILL NOT END THE AUCTION IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE HIGH BIDDER PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. IF YOU CANT TELL BY THE PICTURES, DON'T ASSUME..PLEASE ASK.
