Vehicle Detail
This car was factory ordered with the 250 cubic inch Nova 6cyl engine with manual transmission. Has been in the same family for 38 years. Purchased new at Mike Salta Pontiac here in Portland Oregon. The car has 81,000 actual miles and still wears it's original paint. She is 100% rust-free. The original interior is in exceptional condition. My car collection spans the 1960's and into the early 70's and primarily consists of General Motors cars of that era. As any collector, I have soft spots for a few select models. 1971 and 1972 Ventura's are at the top of my soft-spot list and I have owned several over the past 25 years. In fact, the 3rd car I ever owned was a Lime Green Ventura (last photo below) and ever since then I have purchased these cars when I could find them. This Placer Gold Ventura is one of the finest originals I have ever found. A very rare, low mileage and extremely solid car in wonderful condition. Here are the full details: The body of the car has retained all of it's original sheet metal. All panels fit together beautifully and I find no evidence of previous damage or repairs. No rust ever. Even the undersides and trunk are outstanding. The original Placer Gold paint (trim code 53) is in impressive original condition but is showing it's 38 years of age. Minor dings, chips and small scratches have occured over the years. Original chrome bumpers are in great shape and all glass is very nice. The grille is excellent. All exterior stainless trim moldings, emblems and chrome door handles are in-place and in good condition with only minor pitting showing. Close-up photos of all areas provided. They are almost never found like this anymore. This car is the definition of an original, authentic survivor. She has escaped the fate of most Nova's, Ventura's and Camaro's and has never been in the hands of an abusive teenager. The upcoming photos will convince any non-believer of the gentle life this car has had. The interior is amazing and completely original. The fabric inserts on the seats never lasted and it's all excellent in this car. The seats, headliner, door panels, dashboard area and factory rubber matting are in exceptional condition. The original AM radio was updated to AM/FM and a digital clock was installed on the dash, otherwise, everything is 100% factory. All lights, heater, wipers, gauges and horn are functioning properly. Even the dome light still comes on when you open the door. All owners manuals, warranty booklets, assembly line build-sheet, dealer window sticker, etc, are still in the glovebox. Mechanically, the car is very sound. The 250-6 still powers the car with ease. The manual 3 speed column shift transmission shifts like new. The standard rear-end with 3:08 gear ratio is church quiet. The brakes stop on a dime and the suspension has a firm feel while driving down the road. She is dependable and can be driven without concern. As a Ventura lover and collector, it was my intention to remove the 6 cylinder and install a V8. Both Pontiac and Chevrolet small block V8 engines were available options for these cars. Since this car is already equipped with a manual transmission, a 4 speed conversion would be an easy task. In fact, taking this car to the next level would be rewarding in every way and inexpensive to accomplish. I already have several classic cars to enjoy. I'll pass this sweetheart on to someone else. All of my eBay experiences have been extremely enjoyable as I've rotated through and sold members from my collection. I'm grateful for the compliments and kind words I've received. My opinions and description abilities have served me well and I stand behind them. I welcome and encourage showing the car in-person to anyone with genuine interest. There are around 70 photos to view and they show the car clearly and accurately. I will make brief comments under some of the photos. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. I can also be reached by telephone at 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Wednesday, June 23rd at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located towards the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communcation goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Ventura. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. My offer of answering questions is genuine so please, don't hesitate to contact me. I took every picture with my handheld digital camera. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. Thanks for your time, DAVE Driving at approx 65mph the day all of these photos were taken. Rust-free means NO rust. The lower portions of the fenders, rocker panels and rear quarters are gorgeous. The typical troublesome spot around the rear window is also 100% solid. My exploration of the car has discovered no previous colision damage. The entire nose area, bumper, grille and trim are excellent. The trunk lid had a dent that occured years ago. I had it replaced (not repaired) with a mint original lid and color-matched. Rear bumper, tailights and bezels are all very nice. The license plates are the day-one originals and the only set the car has ever had. Shown- Small ding in roof. Ding at very rear of quarter panel. Small ding on right front fender lip. Ding near passenger headlight. Very small ding on left rear fender lip. Ding on left front fender. Close-up of ding on roof. Absolutely every light works on the car. Even the back-up lights and license plate light work properly. Original interior is nothing short of amazing. Factory steering wheel is MINT. No cracks. Dash pad is perfect also. Correct and original mileage reading of 81,514. The trunk is outstanding. 100% solid. A light cleaning/scrubbing would bring it back to almost perfect. Backsides of both quarter panels are mint. What is there to say? Base option Chevrolet 250-6cyl and this car was a special order! This is what he wanted. Undercoating applied when new at factory or dealership. Other than 81,000 miles of Portland Oregon road-grime and slight fluid seapage over the years, the undersides are what we hope to find. NO patch work or rust issues of any kind. All original doc's. Factory build-sheet. As I said in the beginning, I love these cars. With so many to pay attention to, I need to thin my keepers. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I feel confident that I will miss this little Gold car. It would have been nice to have a V8- 4speed parked next to my Green one and have sisters. Truly a very unique and neat car. Certainly deserves the right home. Thanks again, DAVE ___________________________________________________________________ Terms of Sale: 38yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly, to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge, everything is in good working order. I have free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is almost 40 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending, preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form or other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Dennis is a great guy and his direct number is 503-343-4884. He is based here in Oregon and has handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 3 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97267. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange and I have experience with these types of transport as well. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
