Vehicle Detail
Ok, here is the relisted truck after the funny business with the over seas buyer, and their over inflated bidding, made the previous auction unfair to real bidders. My thanks to you previous bidders and I hope you will continue to bid on this now that things have been corrected. Everything is the same. For sale is my 1979 GMC Sierra Grande 454 pickup truck. Not many of these were made from what I can find out. If you are looking for an exceptional vintage truck to Show & Go as it is, or do an easy restoration on, this is it. Whenever I cruise around town in it, people stop and stare, it is that rare to see one like this in this condition. You can buy it and drive it home to wherever you live in the USA. This truck has never been driven in winter or on a salt road, and is rust free. It has its factory original metallic brown over creme two tone color scheme, on a body that is very nice with no damage or body fillers. One top piece of the box side has been repainted, and the owner told me it was scratched. No filler, etc. used in the repair. There is ( no ) fresh black undercoating on the frame or in the wheel wells, so you can see exactly what you are getting. The truck is an original Big Block 454 truck and it has approximately 3,000 miles on the overhaul of the original 454 it came with, done by the previous owner. The truck was used its entire life to pull a fifth wheel camper, (has mounting holes in the bed) and I purchased the truck several years ago from the gentleman when he was going to trade it in for a newer model truck. The truck originally came with white 16.5" steel rims which after a long search, I replaced last summer with factory 16" white steel wheels. The wheels were powder coated last summer, and are perfect as are the original GMC dog dish center caps. Currently it has BF Goodrich 10 ply White Raised Letter tires on it. The chrome on the truck is 100% there (lots of it) and is very nice with only a small dent in the one piece of trim on the tailgate, and a couple small dings in the chrome around the grille. I did not replace the pieces, as the dents are not that noticeable. So it just matters how particular the buyer wants to get with this. The front chrome bumper is original I believe, and is in nice shape except for a small scratch on the top left side, and is not through the chrome and can only be seen if you get up right on top of it. The back bumper is a new original white $700.00 NOS GM bumper by Luverne that I found last year at a dealership in their storage room still in the box. I have an extra Grille and a couple other chrome pieces that go with the truck also. The interior is very nice and only has a few typical cracks in the top of the dash, and the drivers seat is nice except for some small stress tears on the drivers side in the seat fabric. After looking for over 2 years, I recently found a material from an old upholstery shop that is so close to the original that it is not funny. An appointment has been made for next week for the seat to be taken to a very excellent local upholsterer who has an excellent reputation in doing custom interiors, to have the seat restored, and that will be included with the truck. The side vinyl on the seat and the buttons on the seat and all original hardware which are excellent, will be used in the restoration. The truck is 2 wheel drive, and has the factory original 454 option, 373 gear ratio in the posi-traction locking rear differential, automatic transmission, dual fuel saddle tanks, AC, AM/FM radio, and sliding rear window. It has a clear title with no liens, and is licensed through March 2011, is serviced and ready to go. The buyer is responsible for paying the shipping costs, and I will help arrange shipping for the buyer. If you come and get the truck, there will not be any shipping costs. I will deliver the truck for free within a 200 mile radius of here. Not much else to say, except it is a very sweet truck, and you will look high an low for one like it even in the sunbelt states. I have a collector vehicle for each child, and I was keeping it for my 2nd son, who is still very young, but my job loss forces this sale. I have lots of pictures posted, and if you need additional pictures to look at , other than what is posted, let me know, and I will take them and e-mail them to you. I have a low starting bid, and I have a reserve set on this truck that is not ridiculous. Someone is going to get a nice truck they can cherish for less than they think. Also ask any questions you like. Thanks for bidding, Eric
