Vehicle Detail
Greetings, Here for sale is a very rare and in excelent condition 1964 Toyota FJ 45 Short Bed Pickup Truck. I've owned this "Head Turner" for only a year and a half. We're moving and won't be able to keep it. This FJ is solid and runs great. It has a Chevrolet V-8 engine. The compression was checked a while back and all cylinders are firing strong. I purchased it from an avid collector who also owns a Toyota dealership. It has clearly been well cared for over the years. The Toyota Motor Company badge under the hood states it's a "Model 1964" and "Type FJ45L". Also under the hood are gleaming chrome Erson valve covers and air cleaner assembly. A powerful Interstate battery fires up the V-8 power plant everytime. The 2.5" exhaust passes through dual V-Force mufflers and exits via chrome tips. And if I may say so myself, she's purrs like a lion! The truck rests on BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A Radials size 33 X 12.50 R 15 LT. Which are in nearly new condition. The four wheel drum brakes have been checked by a professional mechanic and were found to be in "excellent" condition. Up front are Warn Locking Hubs. And the drive shaft was custom made by Champion Spring & Brake of Gillette Wyoming. All lights, signals, indicators and wipers work fine. The rubber is in top shape around all doors, windows and elsewhere. There are dual Auto Guage oil pressure and water temperature gauges tastefully mounted under the dash. All other gauges work as well. The heater works great as do all the windows and vents. The truck door locks all work and lock up tight. There is also a professionally installed console between the seats that has a locking compartment for valuables. Dual horns under the hood blast loud and proud when needed. Dome light works and truck is equipped with GM seat belts. Also the truck has GM power steering with tilt steering wheel. Under the seat you will find the original oversized Toyota bottle jack labeled "Made in Japan". The jack attachments are mounted on the wall behind the seats with the original clips. All badges are original and in perfect condition, down to the "Gear Shifting Instructions" on the glove box door. The odometer states "05546". And there is a Warn Winch, model 8074 up front with over 8,000 pounds of capacity. The winch comes with a matching hand-held remote. The truck is currently in Flagstaff in Northern Arizona. This has turned out to be a great town for FJ's. There is a well know vintage off-road restoration shop located here with a terrific network of mechanics. I worked exclusively with one such mechanic who was highly recomended and exceeded all my expectations. He installed a new master brake cylinder, Hydro Clutch kit and seals and completly went through the four barrel carburator. In addition he provided the truck with complete and thorough regular service, such as oil changes, etc.. Please feel free to send any and all questions as you might have about this awesome vintage FJ. I thank you for taking the time to view and read my listing. And I wish all the best of luck in bidding on this very rare and unique vehicle. Don't sit on your hands with this one. Ya' just don't find 'em like this any more. On Jun-12-10 at 11:38:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Updated 6/12/10 Talked to my mechanic to get some more specifics as lots of folks are askin' about the truck. So here's some more info for all... The front and rear differentials are original Japan "open" with 4:11 gears. The tranny and transfer case are also the original 3 speed. Yes, you could probably pull up oak tree stumps with this beast. There is about a 4" lift with shackle reverse kits for handling. The power steering is a Saginaw kit. The bell housing adaptor, motor mounts and bracket kit are all from Advance Adaptors. And again the exhaust is a custom 2.5" system with Mega Force's V-Force mufflers. Basically the only thing that has been modified on this classic is the addition of the 350 Chevy power plant. As my FJ mechanic says, "it is a clean and simple engine mod". No turbos, no fuel injection. This is the kind of mod collectors, drivers and mechanics can appreciate. A few more things are as follows. The ignition system is from Accel. The bucket seats are an awesome custom addition. There is an after market heater, model 5000-12v, from Maradyne Corp. out of Cleveland Ohio. Lots of goodies, like gear shift boots, etc., from Spector Off Road, the premier Vintage FJ supplier out of Chatsworth, CA.. And the rims are either Outlaw or Outlaw II's from American Racing. Thanks very much for all the interest and questions. Keep 'em comin' and don't wait till the last second to bid on this beauty.
