1997 Volkswagen Jetta GT 254300 miles Black with Sunroof Geometric Material Overall great car it does have some scratches and dings that can be expected with a 13 year old car. Here are the details and the personality of the car. Power sliding sunroof, spoiler, manual windows, power locks, Sirius radio antenna and Kenwood CD Player that works with the Sirius radio. All you need to buy is the Sirius radio starmate and mounting kit. History: I purchased the car in October 2003 with 135K miles on it off of eBay. I have all service records from that point on. It also has been garage kept since we have owned it. The car has had its oil changed every 3000 miles and does not burn any oil. Engine is in Excellant shape. It has a valid Georgia emissions that I had done about 2 weeks ago. At 231K it got a new catalytic converter as well as a tune up which included new wires, spark plugs, and distributor cap. It got new tires at 228K that have been rotated every 10K and have plenty of tread left. At 221K the braking system was completely replaced as well as the right rear stub axle and inner and outer ball bearings. 215K we put a new transmission and clutch in the car. This will allow this car to go for a lot more miles since this engine is in such good shape. At 140K all belts were replaced this could possibly be a thing I would consider doing in the future. Currently the air condition does not blow cold air. We recharge it every summer but when we did this year it did not stay cold. The fan still works and the heat is excellent condition during the winter. Secondly, it has a sound when you first crank it from a cold engine it lasts for about a minute or two. We are told this is the secondary fan that is going bad. This part helps to reduce emissions and you can find this replacement part on eBay for around $50-75. Our mechanic said its not a necessary fix that it can be fixed once it actually dies or starts causing emission issues. Details on scratches and dings I have tried to provide pictures to most of the scratches and dings that can be photographed some I could not get accurate photos of so I left those off they just looked like pictures of black paint. Trim on passenger side is missing. Lower trim and mud flap on driver's side is missing. The largest rust spot on the car is on the right rear passenger door. Its about the size of a quarter. The only other rust I have noticed is on the hood of the car and look like chips. There is a white mark on the bumper. Scrathes near the gas cap door. Scrathces behind the door handles and near the key holes. There is also some scratches on the right rear quarter panel. These are very light scratches but I have not tried to buff it out as I sold our buffer last week on eBay. Other than this I cannot think of anything else that the car does or does not do properly. I had every intention of keeping this car forever but it no longer fits our family's needs. This will make a great everyday car for anyone a teenager to senior that gets great gas mileage and with proper routine mainteance will go a lot more miles this is truly a great Volkswagen. Not one of the newer ones that have issue after issue. This car will truly be missed and I hope the person who decides to buy it will take very good care of it like we have.
