Vehicle Detail
1988 Dodge Shelby CSX-T (Thrifty Auto Rental) Special This is model # 641 of 1,000 and comes complete with the dash plague still attached. These were specifically built by Dodge and Carroll Shelby for Thrifty Rent- A - Car in 1988. I am the third owner of the car. I purchased the car from Saturn of Brooklyn Park, MN. in 2008 with 82,000 original miles on it. It was traded in "reluctantly" by a gentleman from North Dakota who bought the car from Thrifty in Denver CO. The family outgrew the car and they needed a 4 door. I have quite a bit of the documentation on the car. In the last few months I have replaced the head gasket, (the head checked flat within .002), water pump, oil pan gasket, front seal, O'2 sensor, valve cover gasket, rebuilt starter, spark plug wires, distributor cap, wires, timing belt, radiator, (aluminum after market), and the tires have less than 10,000 on them. No joke, no lies, the front seal was put in by a friend of mine when we put it back together and he nicked the seal. It leaks and I have a spare. I believe the turbo bearings are going out. I think it is the Dodge turbo and not the Mitsubishi. The air conditioner never worked since I've owned it and when we put it all back together we did not install the compressor and tubing but I still have all the components. I have 2 of the original wheel covers, the original mini spare, and the original floor mats. There are no rust through spots. The car is in very good shape. It is a riot to drive and when the turbo is working it is quick. Why would Carroll Shelby attach his name to anything else. If I don't sell the car we have discussed putting a 340 small block in it. I just kind of hate to cut it up if someone wants to restore it. Mopar young guns?On Jun-10-10 at 20:12:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added the picture of the dash plaque that someone requested. At this point.....everyone please forgive me! This car is not number 641 of 1,000. After taking the picture I realize it is number 681 of 1,000. This just shows how often I had to get under the dash. I hope no one is disappointed because I really don't know if that makes a significant difference. SORRY!On Jun-14-10 at 19:29:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry for the delay but the Minneapolis weather has been rainy. I have added 2 pictures of the under carriage as requested. This is about as good as I could get. Does it have rust?? Sure! What 22 year old car that has never been restored doesn't. I really don't think it is that bad considering that fact. It came out of No. Dakota where they don't use salt on the roads. Or definately not as much as Minnesota.
