Vehicle Detail

1967 Ford Fairlane Ranchero 500XL Was built with a Z Code 390 4V 4 Speed, currently has a 1968(?) 289 Auto in it. This Ranchero is one of 171 ever built in 1967 with a 390 4V 4 Speed in it. I have a deluxe Marti report which spells out this is a 1 of 1 built as follows; 1,882 1967 Ranchero 500XL's built 494 came with 390 4V Engines and 171 had 4 speed manual transmissions 29 were painted Dark Moss Green and 27 had Black Vinyl Bucket Seats 6 were ordered with Power Steering of which 4 had 3.00 limited slip rear axles 2 of these had tinted glass and 1 of these had heavy duty suspension 7K49Z122000 is that Ranchero This Ranchero also had a white stripe according to the Marti report but I don't know if that was below the chrome side trim or even if this chrome side trim is original or added later. The car was dark Moss Green but was later painted Brown which now gives it that rusted look. Even the buckets were recovered in brown vinyl at one time. This is not a rust bucket car as my wife has named it. The only rust on the outside, other than surface rust, is in the passengers rear quarter down low. You can see it in the pic. The car came from California originally then was sold to Ohio where it sat in a barn since 2004. There was rust in the rear floorboards on both sides due to someone years ago installing tie down bolts in the bottom of the bed in the back. The water dripped down into the spare compartment and settled into the floorboards and rusted it. I have had a new floorboard professionally installed in the drivers side rear and on the other areas we repaired small pinholes just with panel bond because I was going to use this as a driver for myself. The passenger side rear floor, the drivers side front and passenger side front has very minor rust which has now been coated with POR 15 to kill any rust on the surface. If you want to go concourse resto you can replace these and they are available very cheap from Autokrafters or Dearborn Classics or here on Ebay. The interior needs a total restoration kit which you can also buy for about $1500 from Dearborn Classics. The steering wheel is in good condition with only minor cracks on the back side of it. The chrome/plastic piece around the center is cracked, the horn blows but a little weak sounding. All turn signals, headlights, dimmer switch and brake lights work. The dash needs a new black cap. It has a digital clock added to the dash by the glove box but it is not wired. No radio but it should have an AM from the factory. I put in a new overhead light and bezel. It needs a new cardboard glove box. The Speedometer and fuel guage work but the oil and brake light idiot lights stay on I presume because the motor has been replaced and not hooked back up? There is a blue cold light that comes on when first starting then goes off soon. You need to plan on a tune up if you plan on driving this. ( i am doing that now along with replacing the carb) I have used it around town for Home Depot trips and such but it still needs attention like checking brakes, idler arm is sloppy, it has small leaks from oil pan plug, transmission, power steering etc. This is NOT in shape to go on the highway! I drive it about 45 miles an hour tops and it is fine. I put Seafoam treatment in the fuel, new plugs and wires, new air filter and just drive it as a ratrod and love it. I had it in the body shop for the floorboards and they were amazed at how solid it is. It feels like a tank. If anyone plans on putting a door ding in it they will lose the battle. I found a piece of paper from an ad years ago in the car and it says it has BOSS 429 rims on it but I have no way of verifying this. If anyone knows how to tell give me a call and I will look at them. I did have one guy tell me Boss rims were marked with a splotch of orange paint on the back and I did verify that 2 of the rims have that and the other 2 appear to be newer with a shiny (but pitted) chrome finish while the 2 with paint are more of a satin chrome finish. I have a lot more pictures so if there are specific areas you want to see send a request. All torgue boxes, drop downs and frame rails etc. are solid with only surface rust coating the underside of the car. . The seat belts on the passenger side do not go with the car, they are out of a 69 Mach 1 and I need to keep them. Drivers side stays. I just put the kick panels in, they were originally tan and were sprayed black. I also just added the chrome seat trim which is a bear to find. The car will need new weather strip on the doors. Windows front and back appear ok with no cracks. Windows go up and down ok on both sides. Ignition key does not open the doors so I can't lock it. Car starts right up and drives everytime so transporting is not a problem. Bumpers are in good shape with no dents but will need rechromed. Bed is in excellent condition. The 4 black spots are where I had the tiedown bolts removed and welded the holes shut. POR 15 is on the welded spots to prevent rust. One tailgate cable is broken but can be purchased new also. Tailgate works fine. There is one spot on the side rear where the tailgate goes up that has a small rust hole in it. Not on the tailgate but on the body, check the pics but it is minor. All chrome trim around the bed is intact but has some pitting. There are some spare parts with the car and I think that all the side trim is there but it probably would need rechroming. Has a new chrome mirror on the drivers side. I will be happy to talk to anyone if you have questions. I have a 100% feedback score and intend to keep it so please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. I will gladly sell overseas or anywhere but please don't try to scam me as I am a little too old for that. All funds will clear the bank prior to the title or car leaving my possesion. The title is from 2004 from California. Deposits are non-refundable. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to stop the auction if needed. Feel free to call me at 561-578-9946, ask for Joe, but don't call me to tell me you don't like the price or the car or any other useless information. If you can find another 1967 Fairlane Ranchero 390 4V 4 speed you are welcome to bid on that one instead and I will not be offended at all. Sorry but I get too many people with remarks on a car they have no intention of buying. It states that this has a 289 Automatic in it now not a 4 speed. I just had to cancel bids due to this.On Jun-14-10 at 15:50:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I was finally able to get some pics loaded on to a new computer of the console, seats inside the car, under the hood and undercarriage. If anyone needs them send me your email address because I can't get any more loaded on here without removing some and it won't let me remove any either.
