Vehicle Detail
For auction, out 1976 Porsche 912e body (no engine). This car would make a great project. As you should know, the 76 models were the first to have galvanized bodies- preventing much of the rust that is seen on old porsches. As you can see in the one photo below, what is for auction is everything from the car itself, and all parts in the forground. this should contain all parts to get the body back together. NOT PICTURE ARE THE ORIGINAL PORSCHE SEATS- WHICH HAVE BEEN RECOVERED AND NEVER USED (kept inside the house). ISSUES TO NOTE: Compared to some of our other Porsches, this one has very little rust. Main areas to note are the drivers side lower windshield areas. This will need to be addressed but it does not appear fatal- please check hi res photo link. There is also some rust around the battery tray, however the front suspension pan and front end does look clear. The other point of interest is the bottom side of the front suspension pan. This to me appears as surface rust due to the undercoating splitting and separating. The top side of the pan is very clean. If you are looking at the hi res photos, the underside of pans is very dramatically accentuated. The floors, as a whole, are in amazing shape. CONDITION: This car is equiped with a sunroof and air conditioning inside unit. I cannot speak to the function of these units, but it appears that all of the parts are there (the AC is just the inside unit, the compresor pump is not in the engine pay- however it does looks like all the other plumbing and cooling parts are there). All gauges looks great- but again, car has never been powered so i cannot speak to their function. PLEASE EMAIL WITH ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS HEADLINER WAS NEWLY INSTALLED WHILE AT RESTORATION SHOP. STILL IN GREAT CONDITION- COULD USE A GLUE IN A FEW PLACES BEFORE SEALS ARE PUT INTO PLACE ( THE HEADLINER WAS DESIGNED TO BE GLUED AND THEN SNUGGED BY THE DOOR AND WINDOW SEALS- WITH NO SEALS IN PLACE- A FEW SECTIONS HAVE COME A BIT UNGLUED-BUT IT IS STILL VERY MUCH INTACT AND GREAT LOOKING) CHECK OUT HI RES PHOTO PAGE Our 1976 Porsche 912E was purchased about 6 years ago and was sent to a restoration shop. While at the shop, shortly after being painted, the shop folded and the car was returned to us. Many other projects kept getting in front of this one. The car has since been garage kept and the paint looks just amazing. The only two paint issues are that 1.) there is a small hairline scratch on the driver door about 6" long (does not show up in photos). I think this happened during transport somehow. It is small, but would need to be addressed if a full repaint of the car is not performed. 2.) One of the rear bumper flares was not painted (which I assume was missed due to the shop closing up). Outside of that, it is one of the best paint jobs I have ever seen.
