Vehicle Detail
Well I will venture a guess you have never seen one of these before! As an avid 2 stroke motorcycle collector I could not pass this one up when I ran into it. Looks like something right out of "Back to the Future" from the 1950's or so. Buck Rodgers stuff. Here's what I was able to find doing research. 1971 MZ ES125/G Motorradwerk Zschopau litterally means "Motorcycle Factory at Zschopau" and they were located in Saxony, East Germany. These motorcycles were never imported into the USA, as they were, shall we say, located on the "wrong" side of the Berlin Wall. Remember East Germany was part of the communist Iron Curtin. MZ began producing motorcycles in 1922 as part of the DKW group. In 1929 DKW was the world's largest producer of motorcycles with over 60,000 produced. After WWII (that's World War Two for you from Rio Linda or educated in US public schools, kidding here folks lighten up, laugh a little), the design for the RT125 was given to the Allies as a "War Reparation". The design was refinded some and became the basis for the Harley-Davidson Hummer and the BSA Bantam. The street version of the ES125 was developed in 1962 and as of 2004 it was the most produced motorcycle in all of Germany. The "G" model (this one) which stands for "Gelande" or "off road" was produced in very limited numbers with only about 500 being made between 1966 and 1971. Of the few that are surviving this is quite possibly the only one in the USA. MZ has a long winning racing heritage with wins at the International Six Day Trials in 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969 and 1987. MZ's have posted 13 Grand Prix wins with 105 podium finishes on the world Road Racing circuits from 1958 until 1976. In 1961 MZ engineers produced the first 125cc motr to produce 200bhp per liter. It has been stated many times that Yamaha and Suzuki both used MZ designs in the early 1960's to develop their two-strokes into the winning machines they became. ****Got some answers to questions. Yes, it's FOR SURE a G model, here's what's on the frame, left side back behind the seat. Made in 1970, model # ES125G KG 270, serial VIN # 9172276. The engine serial # is 6360033, YES, it's a 5 speed and for sure the enduro model, the gas cap has the ISDT embossing on it, it has all the quick change things such, even has the cool OEM tire air pump under the tank. ****** The bike will come with a real DDR (East Germany) license plate that reads 1971 MZ125G, some framed pictures I was able to find on line of it and some history. This bike wins awards at each cycle meet it goes to. Does it run, you bet! Want to see it run, go to YouTube and search steeleacampbell and you can find it in my inventory of video clips. Shipping, I live in the greater Phoenix Arizona area and will assist with shipping in anyway. I have shipped over seas many times and yes it's a bit of a hassle but can be done. Does it have a title? No, however if you really want (need) one I can accomplish this with the DMV, I have 3 bill of sales all notorized so I can prove ownership to the folks at the Motor Vehicle Department, with those documents I should be able to satisfy them ownership and they can run the VIN through their National Crime Database verify that it's not stolen or anything like that and with that can get a title and heck even a license plate to legally tool all around. Okay, back to shipping, if you are in the greater Southern California area I have a good shipper that goes out there all the time and is very reasonable, $150. I have also had great luck with Uship.com, lastly, I can get a metal cycle crate from a buddy that owns a large local dealership, say a Honda CRF150R crate, put the cycle in there, secure it down with tie downs and so on, put the top of the crate bolted back on, put the cardboard back on, secure that to the crate and WALA good to go. I have shipped a number of my former exotic bikes like that all over the place with excellent luck. Yes, I always insure them as well. Payment, I accept PayPal, you can wire me the money, send me a check or something like that, you will not get the cycle until your funds clear however. $250 non refundable deposit due within 48 hours of the close of the auction, we can work out the rest later, you will find me easy going and easy to deal with. Should you want to call me, no worries, I am at 480-861-7218, I am on Pacific Standard Time, my direct email is Steele@receivables-management.com. Check my other listings as I have quite litterally a garage full of old Motocross Bikes for sale, spare parts, even a few cool 2 stroke street bike, some of which you cannot find here in the USA. Thanks, again any questions feel free to drop me a note, call me or what not. ****NEWS!!!! Got some new things in!
