You are bidding on one 1989 Ford Tempo GLS, #417 Sport Package 4-door Sedan. This is the super rare #417 Sports package car. The Car is loaded with about ever option available that year. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Seats (both front seats), Power Lumbar Front Seat, Cruise Control, Tilt Steering Wheel, Air Conditioning, AM/FM Cassette Stereo, Tachometer, Bucket Seats, Factory Aluminum Wheels. We purchased the car in November of 1990 and were told less than 500 were built. I have never found much information on the Sport #417 model and have no way to verify the product numbers. I have only seen one other of these Cars. This car was very expensive when new, if I remember right is was between $14,000 and $16,000. This Car will need to have the engine rebuilt or a new one installed. The engine over heated about 10 years ago and we never repaired it. The car was taken to the local Ford dealer and the head was removed and a estimate was given and was more than we could spend on the car. The Car was parked then and has not been messed with since then until we pulled it around back to be cleaned up a little and photo's taken. The parts are in the trunk. Unfortunatly field mice made a nest in the engine compartment, I cleaned it up some but needs much more cleaning. The cylinder bores have some water in them now from me spraying the garden hose to try and clean some of the mess up, The bore were dry before then. This is a very solid car, I do not see any rust problems on the body. Their is some minor damage on each quarter panel that needs to be repaired. The tail light and the valve cover in the photo's are no longer included. The interior needs major cleaning. The carpet is in bad condition. The seats do not have any tears at all, but need cleaning. The drivers seat has some black sealer or something that has dripped on it (see photo). All the glass is good. The two front tires pulled away from the rims when we moved the car, I have had the front tires re-mounted since the photo's were taken, but they do not hold air very long. Some of the original paper work is included, owners manual etc. As rare as this car is it should probably be restored or could be used for a parts car. There are many good part for another one of these or the seat and power interior parts would be good for a street rod project. The car still needs a lot of cleaning and there still is a lot of dirt and mold on and in the car. This Car will need to be trailered home. If this Car does not sell I may be parting it out and listing the parts on Ebay, I hate to do so because of the rarity of this car though. Kansas Titles used to have printed on them, exceeds mechanical limits when a car had over 100,000 miles.
