Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 This classic Lincoln was my Dad’s pride and joy. When he passed at age 92, he left it to me. It’s a good car that needs a little TLC. It is listed with no reserve price and would be a fine car to restore. I have driven it many times and will describe it to the best of my ability. Condition: This1978 Lincoln Versailles has been garage kept and has 96,823 original miles. I don’t know it’s maintenance history and assume it needs a thorough going over by a qualified mechanic. It starts, idles a bit too fast, but runs well. To the best of my knowledge it’s been a reliable, trouble free vehicle--except for the time when it developed a radiator hose leak on the way back from Orlando. Dad thought he could nurse the car home, but ended up cooking the engine. Someone else might have gotten rid of the car, but not my Dad. He loved this car. So he had the engine replaced with a new (rebuilt) engine. This one has less than 1500 miles on it. There are only two mechanical issues that I am aware of. The air conditioning has gradually stopped blowing cold. I think that, since the change has been gradual, it may only need a new charge of refrigerant. The second issue is that heat doesn’t work. The heater core developed a leak, so it was by-passed. Dad never got around to fixing it, but I’m pretty sure there is still a replacement heater core in the trunk. As I remember, the leather upholstery is in pretty good shape, but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of it. Both the power driver's seat and power windows work. The tires are good and the body is in decent condition, with some minor dings. The paint is original, but has some amateurish touch ups. See photos. Payment: A non-refundable deposit of $250 is due, via PayPal only, within 48 hours of the close of the auction. The balance to be paid in cash, or by Cashier’s check or money order at the time that the car is picked up. Pickup: As I said above, this was my Dad’s car and it’s located at his former home in Daytona Beach, Florida. Currently I am residing in Maryland, but I will be in Daytona Beach from Saturday, June 5, through Wednesday, June 9. This is the only time that the vehicle can be picked up. No shipping. The buyer will need to be present to make final payment, sign the bill of sale, and receive the title and car. I will be keeping the tag, so please come prepared with your own tag or other means to get it home. If you cannot come to the house during that time period to pickup the car, please do not bid on it. Due to the time constraints, If you win the bid and do not pickup the car within the days specified above, I will have to keep your deposit and the auction will be revoked. In Conclusion: I have described the vehicle as accurately as possible. I have a perfect Feedback record which I am proud of and I wouldn't knowingly do or state anything that would lead to a buyer being unhappy. If there are any hidden problems, I am not aware of them and cannot take responsibility for them. The car is being sold “as is.” There is no warranty on the vehicle and the sale is final. Please email me or call me at 301-538-6146 with any questions. Because of the time constraints involved, I reserve the right to deny bids at my discretion. If you are new to eBay or have less than perfect Feedback, please contact me before bidding. If that's not okay, please don't bid. Someone's going to enjoy Dad’s pride and joy. Why not you?
