They are generally very reliable - but they are not new cars - they have squeaks, rattles, dents, scratches, and quirks. They will have to be worked on even if it is just routine maintenance - this Trooper is in great running condition and should make somebody a very reliable truck for many years to come. Engine Cranking and Walkaround Drivearound You are bidding on one of the nicest examples of a 1986 Isuzu Trooper II Turbo Diesel 4 Door 4x4 that has the ultra rare Isuzu factory replaced 3rd generation connecting rods and the factory Garrett Turbo charger. This truck features the most desirable and rare version of Isuzu's bullet proof 2.2 L diesel engine. This Trooper cranks using the factory glow plug system and it functions as it should. This truck has proven to be very reliable and has cranked even on the coldest of days we had this past winter. This truck features a 5 speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly thru all 5 forward gears as well as reverse and 4 wheel drive which works as it should in 4 Hi and 4 Lo. This Trooper uses Isuzu's auto locking hubs to change from 2wd to 4wd and vice versa. The transmission has been drained and filled with fresh 10w30 motor oil - as specified by Isuzu factory recommendations. The 4wd auto locking hubs have just been serviced and repacked. The front and rear ends have been drained and refilled with the proper gear oil. When I bough the Trooper from the original owners, it had a leaking injector pump and bad passenger side CV boot. I replaced the injector pump with a rebuilt Turbo Diesel injector pump and changed the timing belt with a brand new Isuzu belt. The CV joint was replaced with a brand new one and the hubs were serviced at the same time. This Trooper's interior is in fantastic condition. The carpeting is in very good condition considering its age - there is some very minimal staining in the rear compartment but there are absolutely no worn thru spots anywhere - even under the accelerator pedal. The headliner is in perfect shape and is not sagging anywhere. The glass is in great shape - there are no cracks in any of it. The rear utility doors open as they should and the cargo area is very clean. The door and side wall panels are all in tact - there are no tears or rips anywhere - the cargo area side panels do have some slight grease / dirt stains on them and also have no rips or tears. The front and rear seats have no rips or tears in them. The rear seat is in great shape too and can provide seating for 3. The rear seat can also be folded up towards the drivers seats to provide cavernous amounts of cargo / utility space. The dash has no cracks - which is rare for any Isuzu Trooper or Pickup. The gauges all work and light up as they should - this Trooper exhibits excellent oil pressure. Both interior dome lights work properly. This SUV has the factory A/C system and the compressor works perfectly and blows ice cold air. The truck also features power steering which works properly. There is a working Isuzu AM / FM tape player. This is the nicest rust free example of a 1986 Isuzu Turbo Diesel 4x4 4 door Trooper that I have ever owned - it has no surface rust on the body or frame - it's only flaw concerning the body are nicks and scratches that could be expected on a vehicle this age and some sun fading on the roof and hood. The wheel wells, floor pans, rockers, door jambs and frame have NO RUST or RUST THRU anywhere - pictures and videos are attached to show examples. The frame only has dirt stains. This SUV is in great mechanical shape. For a truck that is going on 25 years old, it is in outstanding overall condition and still has its original factory paint job. The engine uses no oil between oil changes. The truck has no excess blow by. The fuel economy is excellent - you can expect mid to high 30 mpgs - depending on how you drive it. The tires are brand new Maxxis Buckshot Mudders with 100% tread still left - mounted on early 90's Isuzu Snowflake aluminum wheels. If you prefer less aggressive and the correct wheels that came from the factory - I will gladly put the steel wheels with like new Primewell light truck multi purpose tires back on it. This Trooper has some really neat features that you almost never see on an older trooper - 3rd generation connecting rods - chrome wheel well trim - chrome front and rear step bumper - correct frame mounted draw tite receiver hitch - rear disc brakes. I upgraded the rear end to a 1991 Trooper rear end for several reasons - the 1991 rear ends were the strongest Isuzu ever made for the 1st generation troopers and it gives you 4 wheel disc brakes for excellent stopping power. If making your own fuel is your thing - these trucks are great candidates for veg or bio conversions. If you have been wanting an Isuzu diesel Trooper just to use around the yard or on the farm - this one is ready to give somebody years of service - just keep up with the routine maintenance and you should see several hundred thousand more miles roll up on the odometer - these engines are known to give well over 500,000 miles of service if properly maintained - this one is just barely getting broken in. If you have a farm or some land and need a good utility vehicle to help with the chores or serve as a hunting buggy - this one can do it all with its 4 wheel drive and loads of cargo space. This is a good alternative to a ATV / Rhino / Mule / Micro Truck at a fraction of the other choices costs. If you just want to add the rarest of all Isuzu diesels to your collection - this one will be a fine addition - this is the barn find of all Isuzu diesels. This is a used truck with no warranties expressed or implied. It is sold as is where is. This is a 24 year old vehicle that is in outstanding shape for a SUV of this vintage I have several short videos - one of the Trooper cranking from a cold start showing a walkaround of the exterior and interior, one of the engine, one taking a quick drive around showing the Trooper going thru the gears.
