Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 What you are bidding on is a classic GM. It's a 1967 triple black (black exterior/interior/vinyl top) Cadillac Eldorado. Based on the Olds Toranado platform, it was Cadillac's first front-wheel drive car. The '67 was a turning point in design for Cadillac. The Eldorado was low slung with razor thin tail fins who lit up. It also was the first Cadillac to have hidden headlights. I purchased this a couple years ago off eBay. The engine had thrown a rod, which I knew when I purchased it. From the door panel, the car came from Scottsdale AZ and looked to be in great shape. The body, interior, tires, padded roof, and chrome were in such good shape, I figured I could find an engine. That was harder than predicted. The '67 came with a 429 cc. With no luck finding a year matching engine, I went with a 68. The '68 is basically the same car besides the engine and exhaust. After researching and googling, I found a company out of South Carolina called Cadillac Heaven. Through them I found a 472 cc Cadillac engine out of a '68. The car it came out of was rusted out with 68,000 miles on it. I had the engine and parts shipped up, had a great mechanic install it, and shortly after it was running. Also, bled the breaks so it stops much better than you would think for car of this size. Eager to get it on the road, my mechanic economically did what was needed to get the car inspected. Later I expected to do what I needed to bring the electronics back to new. The car runs well. All last summer I took it out every sunny day. Whether in stop and go traffic or at highway speed, the car holds the road great. Great comments wherever I took it. The hard work has been done engine wise. So what works and doesn't - Three of the four windows work, but only from the driver's side. The fourth window that doesn't work is the back passenger window which doesn't retract. The power locks do not work. The radio does not work; however, there is power to the radio when turned on and the antenna goes up. There are aftermarket speakers in the footwall wall, which was placed there by a previous owner. There may have been a CD player in the trunk or different radio somewhere else in the car which was removed. Air and heat do not work, but the vent fan does. The retractable headlights work. The directional signals work; however, the left side needs arm needs to be held down for it to blink. I'm not sure if it's a fuse or something to do with the directional arm. Six-way, power seat works. Telescoping steering wheel - yes. Clock - no. Recently, the alternator light has come on, but the car seems to be running fine. A replacement wouldn't cost much. I want to be honest with what is and isn't working when you come to look at the car. In the two years I’ve had it the car was garaged during the winter, and covered from the sun in the summer. The car also comes with a $250 Covercraft car cover, and the optional headrest. I could go on, but these are highlights. This is a car to enjoy. Not a car that will win any shows, but not one that you need to just sit in the driveway and only admire an investment. Not looking to make money on this only recoup my investment. Hate parting with this, but I need the money unfortunately. Questions welcomed. Happy bidding.
