Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction 1970 Dodge Charger 500 - Rare color combination, both exterior and interior are Burnt Orange Numbers matching 383 car that would be great to restore. This car runs and drives but it has been sitting for quite a while and is not a daily driver. It would run well enough to load onto a trailer. The brakes are there but the pedal sticks and you need to lift it up. Engine block is original to the car. The heads appear to be late model, it has a Holley Street Dominator intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, M/T valve covers. It does not have the correct exhaust manifolds and it has an aftermarket 6 blade fan. Options are power steering, power brakes and Magnum wheels. The woodgrain steering wheel may also be an option. Bodywise, there is some good and some bad. Hood is solid but has surface rust in front edge seam, nothing heavy. There are hood pins and no latch assembly. Back edge of the hood bowed a bit so maybe the hood came up at some point. Hood hinge on passenger side was replaced by a prior owner. Engine bay and front frames rails look clean and solid. The area directly under the windshield, under the cowel and behind the frame rails are flat pieces of tin that are rusty. Don't know what to call that area, see pictures. Rear frame rails need attention toward the rear of the car. The left rear frame rail is soft with some rust holes. The right rear frame rail is thin but better than the left. Caps might take care of the rear frame rails. Trunk floor is very rusty. We never pulled the carpet up but the floors look solid from the bottom of the car, except the drivers side front floor pan which needs to be replaced. Doors aren't perfect but they are pretty nice. Both front fenders need repair. There is rust on the bottoms, especially the right fender, and some rust on the top but they might be salvageable. Roof is covered by the remains of a vinyl top. The back edge of the roof has a small hole and the front edge has some surface rust above the window trim. Lower half of both rear quarters needs replacement in front of and behind wheel well. Trunk lid has some dents along edge, rust blisters on lip and appears to have a patch from an antenna on the front center. Interior is intact and in the car. We've seen worse interiors in drivers. Dash pad is nice and has no cracks, but there is a blemish that might be a burn mark about 3/8 inch long above the glove box. Steering wheel shows wear but has no cracks. Hurst shifter shows wear but is in decent shape. Console has a crack at the rear on top behind the compartment. Door panels need replacement. Head liner has some damage. Glass is intact and all there. Car was repainted some time in the past. Please email with any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. If you want more pictures let me know in plenty of time before the auction ends so I can get them to you. Thanks for looking!
