Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1979 Ford F-350 one (1) ton super camper special with near new tires and 17" rims. Truck is currently located in south central Wisconsin (Janesville). I'm 40 minutes from Madison (MSN), an hour from from Milwaukee (MKE) and 1.5 hours from O'Hare (ORD), if you want to fly in and pick it up. Otherwise, I might be able to deliver it (within reason) if I have someway to get back home. :) I found out what model it was/is, thanks to a friendly caller. This Ford F350 is the "Super Camper Special" with the longer wheel base (rear wheels sit further back) than other 3/4 and 1-ton pickups. Thanks to that caller! NO RESERVE. Here are some of the options: Original paintRust freeA/CPower leather seats (seats are from a 2003 Ford)Ford F-350 One (1) Ton Super Camper Special CD player4x2Towing package17" wheels and new aggressive tires (tires have less than 6000 miles on them)New spare (not pictured) Vehicle + emission inspection (in Utah) good through 02/2011Rebuilt 460 Engine w/ approximately 10,000 miles on it...all the power you could ever hope for. Title in handDual fuel tanks - both working in perfect shapeFlooring is mint...in great shape. Here are some things I've fixed in the last couple of months: All new belts (04/2010) New solenoid (04/2010) New connector wires to the solenoid (05/2010)Here are known issues: Couple of small holes in the exhaust, right near the tail pipe. You don't notice it except when you're standing near the rear of the vehicle while its on. Passed inspection with the holes present. Not sure if this is an issue or not, but the first time you start the truck in the morning, after sitting all night, it will take a few seconds to engage once you put the vehicle into drive from park. It only happens when the vehicle is cold for some reason. Not sure what the culprit would be, but it's nothing that's bothered me too much to get looked at.Passenger side window is a bit hard to roll down. Probably just needs to be lubricated. I doubt anyone has rolled it down in the past few years. There are a few squeaks and such, which I attribute to the age of the vehicle. It is a 1979 after all. The interior, outside of the seats, is in average condition. The dash is cracked (I included a picture) and the door panels are showing their age and are loose in parts. These issues I attribute to age. If I were to keep the truck, I'd just leave them as is, but that's just me. All of the instruments work and are perfectly functional - lights, radio, fans, fuel tank selector, signals, etc. No worries whatsoever. Lastly, I purchased this for a business I was starting. Those plans went out the window shortly thereafter. Only selling because I need a commuter car for work. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to take this on a cross-country trip. Gas mileage isn't great with the 460 engine in it, but it'll get you anywhere and tow anything you can put behind it. The pintle hitch in the pictures is not included in the sail. Since buying it, here is where I've driven it and the dates of those trips: Utah to California (round trip: 1,925 miles) - March 2010 Utah to Memphis (one way: 1,515 miles) - April 2010 Memphis to Wisconsin (one way: 605 miles) - April 2010 Wisconsin to Des Moines, IA (round trip: 630 miles) - May 2010 (Just did this one yesterday, 05/03/2010) Honestly, this is in fine shape, especially for the year. It is my everyday driver currently and could be yours with no concern whatsoever. That being said, this is a 1979 vehicle (31+ years old). Please don't expect a perfect truck. There are a few squeaks and such that are to be expected of a 31+ year old vehicle. I've tried to describe all that I know about it, and document the scratches, etc., but you're still getting an old truck anyway you look at it. Adjust your expectations accordingly. Newer vehicles are designed for comfort and, while this truck is pretty good on that end, it doesn't drive as smooth or satiny as an 2010 F350 or something built today. That's just how it is. I personally love older vehicles. My previous car was a '73 International Scout II. If they were better on gas, I'd keep them in a heartbeat...all this is to simply say to realize that you are bidding on a '79 truck at the end of the day. Even saying that, it is my everyday driver and I'm more than comfortable keeping it should that be the way the auction goes. But, I figured there are some people out there who appreciate a thing of beauty when they see it and would benefit from the use more than I might. :) A $300 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, or 1 business day. If you show up to pick it up and, for whatever reason, don't choose to buy it, you can walk away no strings attached, but I keep the deposit.
