Vehicle Detail
1989 BMW E30 M3 Please do not bid unless you have the money and plan to purchase the car. I bought this car about a year ago as a project. I have a 2 year old daughter and another one on the way, so I have no free time. Overall the car is solid, but it does have its issues. When I bought the car it had been sitting for 8 years. It was garage stored during those eight years. It also has been garage kept since I bought it. Exterior: The car will need paint. It would probably be ok for a track car, but that would be it. It does have the common E30 rust spots. Base of the windshield Rear tag lights Sunroof panel The right rear quarter where it meets the rocker and front door also has a small rust spot from a previous repair. None of these have progressed very far. I had the car looked at when I got a paint quote and was told these spots were very easily addressed. No major scuttle panel should be required. The body does have dings and scratches, along with a few minor dents. A few are on the hood. There was previous damage from a right side side-swipe. The passenger fender and door were replaced. VIN tags are not on these two body parts. The mirror housings are there, but the glass is missing. Interior: The car has tan interior. It looks decent at first glance, but will need to be addressed. The driver's seat, as usual, is the worst. No major tears, just hard and dirty. The rest could be cleaned up enough for a driver, just not a show car. The rest of the interior just needs a very good cleaning. Mechanicals: When I bought the car, it had not run in 8 years. There were alternator issues and the car was parked. To get it started, the below were done. Gas tank was drained External fuel pump and fuel filter were replaced Fuel injectors were replaced Oil and filter changed New plugs Cap and Rotor Plug wires The engine was turned over by hand and a little lubricant was dumped into the cylinders. It actually started right up. The engine was noisy due to the timing chain tensioner being bad. A new one is included. (Not installed). The engine has not been run for more than a couple of minutes. The engine does leak oil. The gaskets, mainly the oil pan and possibly the main seal, leak. The engine starts, but I would not consider it a running vehicle. I have not run it for long periods due to the timing tensioner and leaks. The car really is pretty solid and the above may sound bad, but I am just trying to be as honest as possible. The car could easily be a solid runner with some work. I do have clear title in hand. The M3 has been sitting for 9+ years. It is not something you can drive home. It has good compression across the board. I have not driven this car at all. This is a project car as stated. Since I bought the car, I have done a few minor things to the car(mainly getting it started), but haven't had time to put into the car, which is why I am selling. Please no offers below my starting bid and don't bid if you don't have funds. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.
