Vehicle Detail
1978 Lincoln Mark V Coupe Ultra-rare “Emilio Pucci” Designer Edition 35,000 Original Miles Two Owners from New VIN: 8Y89A862133 So, where else are you buying your clean, low-mileage, original Lincolns anyway? Reluctantly, this car was turned over to us by a local Puget Sound credit union here in the Seattle area after the owner wasn’t able to continue making her payments. That owner was only the Lincoln’s second and it’s very apparent the car has been treated as a classic since new. Vintage original Mark V sales literature, the laminated factory build sheet and other background information came safely stowed in the fully carpeted trunk – along with the factory mini-spare and jack. The odometer now reads only 35,050 and, based on that material, is felt to represent LOW, ORIGINAL miles. Think about it, this Lincoln has averaged less than 1,100 miles per year since new ! The interior is quite extraordinary. I’m sure the ashtray’s never seen a cigarette! All the power extras are in working order including the windows, door locks, eight-way seats, power steering and brakes. Even the vacuum powered headlight doors open and shut properly! Please contact me directly with any questions. My name is Mark Thompson and I can be reached at 206/914-1173. You’re welcome and encouraged to make an appointment during business hours to inspect and test-drive this car. During the 1978 model year Ford again offered four Designer Series versions of the Mark V. Each came in a unique paint and interior color combination with the Fashion Designer’s name imprinted on the oval-shaped opera quarter glass. Most folks are familiar with the more common Cartier, Bill Blass, and Givenchy editions. The Pucci is the rarest and my favorite! CONDITION Ever spent an afternoon driving a classy, vintage Lincoln coupe? What a treat! Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. Comfort, styling, and versatility all in one gorgeous ride. For my money, these Mark V Series Coupes are one of the best values for the overall driving experience that a vintage Lincoln has to offer. Look over my photos and I’m sure you’ll agree what a find this is. What you’re viewing is the result of a wash and vacuum only! “Time capsule” is a good adjective to use when describing this car. I know you’ll admire it’s overall provenance. All the glass is good. The paint appears to have been redone sometime in the distant past and is still very presentable. Climb over, under and throughout - I know you’ll come up smiling! Rust? Please, this boulevard cruiser HATES body rust and you’ll be hard pressed to find anything to worry about here. Yes, the Puget Sound area is famous for rain, but our winter roads are rarely salted. We only have one or two days of light snow each year. Everyone panics and stays home. Inside you’ll find nearly untouched, great original leather upholstery on the rear seats - the front leather inserts could use a re-dye but are very sound and original. NONE of the leather on the door panels –or the rest of the interior - has suffered sun damage. I’m quite impressed with the condition of the dash gauges. They are as clear and bright as the day this rig left the Michigan plant one day nearly 32 years ago! You’ve gotta love the factory-installed eight-track “Quadrasonic” sound system! We even have the original quadrasonic demo tape to pass along. The carpets are clean originals with no sun fade. The headliner is perfect. Even the Cartier dash clock still keeps accurate time! Mechanically the car is strong. Our paperwork says the engine was rebuilt by Ford in 2005 after being in storage for many years. The Lincoln dealer serviced the 9-inch rearend and transmission in 2008. During the past two years the engine was tuned-up, the A/C system was serviced and upgraded to R-134A refridgerant and new period-correct Michelin tires were installed all around. Even after sitting in our warehouse for a few days at a time the car never fails to start right up at the first crank. You just can’t beat the great 460 CID motors in these mid-70’s coupes! Just pump the gas a few times, turn the key and it starts instantly, even when cold. The automatic three-speed C-6 Transmission shifts great and we all know how good these Ford/Lincoln rear ends are! The brakes feel just fine to me too. All four alloy wheels are straight and the Michelin’s have at least 95% rubber remaining. I’ve spent several days cruising both freeways and city streets and can find no fault with the way this Coupe runs or drives out. With Spring here, I have no problem encouraging bidders to do what many of our previous buyers from as far away as Alaska, California, the east coast, Canada and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in to Sea-Tac International just a few miles from us. I’m happy to pick you up there, do the paperwork and then watch you begin the drive home the same day! Yes, I have every confidence this Coupe could be driven cross-country. TERMS OF SALE: You’re encouraged to check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Come by and drive the Lincoln at our premises during business hours if you’re in the area. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally, we reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed upon. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction’s end if you’re the winning bidder. The remaining balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with us. Remember, you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You are not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later! Please stop by our Kenmore location or send your inspector to do this before the auction ends. Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice car from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or you are required to spend a small amount on an unforeseen problem! No used car is perfect. Having said that, I have every confidence this vehicle can be driven cross-country tomorrow. Please Note: We will NEVER, EVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law) and we will NEVER solicit a “Second Chance Offer” from ANY Bidder! Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new eBay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. As outlined above, the phone number to talk directly to me is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK THOMPSON. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: Please check the photos over closely and call with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to inspect the vehicle at our premises on weekdays, so send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. We reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. Because of the high fees they charge, we accept PAYPAL for the deposit only. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with us. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later (You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends If you do decide to have the car shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from www.U-ship.com. Transporters will bid delivery of the vehicle and you'll be able to choose who you want to use. As an alternative, you might also get a quote from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're Ebay's preferred transporter and have a link attached to the Ebay Motors home page that I suggest looking at. The zip code for pick-up would be 98028 to get an instant on-line quote from either source. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. I’m happy to assist by transporting the Lincoln to the nearest DAS terminal located in Lakewood, WA for an additional $100. DAS normally charges about $200.00 to pick up at our door. Make sure you inquire with your shipper about insurance coverage on the vehicles they transport. The vehicle can be stored free of charge at our location for up to two weeks after full payment has been made. We are open for vehicle pickup during the week and Saturday The Buyer will be responsible for the licensing requirements in their state of residence. If you live here in Washington State we’ll need to collect the 9.8% sales tax, title preparation, transfer and registration fees. Because the car is advertised and for sale locally, we reserve the right to cancel this auction early if it’s no longer available for sale online. The State of Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Venue shall be exclusively in King County. The final contract signed between both buyer and seller shall be binding. The final signed contract and terms thereof shall govern the sale. All disputes arising out of or relating to this auction, any negotiations, the signed agreement, or to the breach, enforcement or interpretation thereof, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Washington, in accordance with the terms contained in the final sale agreement and under the laws of the State of Washington. Whew! Don’t you just love legalese?
