~~oo00oo~~ ~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1969 Desirable “chrome bumper” model in original condition. This is a VERY original and excellent condition Silver Shadow finished in Sable with light tan Connolly hides. It has hand-painted fine lines to the waistlines and hubcap beauty trim rings finished in contrasting light gold. The colour Sable is arguably one of the most classic for an old Rolls. Certainly it is a hallmark of the era. Interestingly, at night, the colour deepens in hue and the car takes on a very formal appearance. (Please look at all the photos and the photo link where I have tried to capture the colour variations under different lighting conditions). The interior of the car is excellent. The leather remains soft and supple and is the original Connolly hide leather. It is without any tears or unsightly wear marks and displays the “toned rubbed leather” look. There is some welcomed light patina on the driver seat which looks great. Door panels, hood-lining, interior chrome work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine condition. The light African burl walnut is mostly original (surprisingly) and is all in excellent condition. Particularly amazing is the dash, which has no marks or blemishes. This is most unusual for a Silver Shadow of this age. An added bonus is that the wood grain itself, by the grace of Mother Nature, is very rich in knots and grain. It looks truly stunning. The top and forward dash wood (at the windshield base) was recently redone by a local RR wood-refinishing expert. The exterior of the car is straight and is totally rust free with the underside clean and tidy. The paint is in excellent condition with the finish high in luster and consistent all over. It has only very few and minor little nicks but certainly nothing noticeable and mentioned purely for the purpose of clear disclosure. The paint is so good, that it quite clearly is the result of a high quality repaint ($7000+). I would guess it was redone in the last 5 years with the car having been used very little since. It presents beautifully with all chrome and glass in good condition. Inside door edges and jams are incredibly clean and tidy without unsightly overspray or any signs of restoration. The trunk has all its original carpet fitted and is very clean and dry. Tyres are good (215/75) and hubcaps are straight and the stainless steel is shiny. Mechanically the car is fantastic. It has been recently work-shopped with all the hydraulics/braking system serviced and working well. The car has been well maintained over the years with the more typical items – such as certain brake lines, by example - having been done. The engine truly purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. The car is very spritely in power which is a good sign of a well cared for and good condition motor. A/C blows ice cold and the heater works well. All interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lamps working as they should. Original jack and operating manual come with the car. ~~ A pedigree Silver Shadow, in all, this is an immaculate example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. It is not far from “show standard” and, in my opinion, could be showed as-is. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard but the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-42 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”.
