Selling my extremely rare mini pickup. 1000 of these were sent to the US in the late 60's and around 150 still known to exist. Few are in as good of shape as this one. It only has 16,622 miles. Yes I said 16622. Barely broke in. Loss of job forces sale. The Sambar is a two-stroke, two-cylinder K-class Japanesse mini truck. It weighs about 925 pounds and is fully street legal. I have a clean, clear Kentucky title. It has a 360cc engine which produces around 25 horsepower. Being a two stroke it burns gas and oil and will hit speeds slightly over 60 mph. They are configured like a VW and have a the motor and transaxle mounted in the rear. Great in the snow and sand and on the highway. I bought this truck around a year ago with the full intent of fully restoring it. It had been in a storage shed for years . The previous owner told me he had had it running the previous year. I brought it home, cleaned the gas tank out, put fresh oil and gas in it. Fired right up. I drove it around the yard .The motor, tranny, clutch were fine. Only problem is NO BRAKES. Previous owner rebuilt wheel cylinders but the master cylinder needs rebuilt or a new one gotten for it.I have not started it since last fall but it will run fine. Problem is it will not stop(Brakes). After we got it started we spent weeks on the body. Most rust was in front floorboards which we replaced with newer thicker steel Bed is fine(most of these are rusted completely out). Sides are straight. We painted in a good thick coat of bedliner and painted the truck Alpine white inside and out. All glass is perfect. This little truck is not perfect but a few good weekends fixing little things about it and it should be in top notch shape. Again, I have not started it this winter but the motor is free and these little motors run like a top. I will help whoever wins it push it upon a trailer but I cannot arrange shipping. Have the front bumper(needs painting), Door panels(covered), two boxes of parts. No battery(uses 12v garden battery). Tires are old but have held air all winter. Sold as is where is with no warrantys expressed or implied. I am not a car dealer just a car enthusiast who loves rare old cars and who needs money for bills. This should make a great investment given the rarity of these things. Would be great at car shows, rod runs, hot rod rallys,Rat rod affairs or just cruising.
