Vehicle Detail

1962 Triumph TR3A- I have owned this car since 1985 and it has 5549 actual miles on it. I have had it stored, under a car cover, in my climate controlled garage since 1990. The car ran beautifully and then one day I went out to start it- the battery was dead. My son had climbed into it and pulled the light switch on, left it, and killed the battery. My wife's home business quickly surrounded it with a wall of boxes, 5 kids, Porsche 356, SuperBeetle and TR6 projects consumed me, 20 years later, and here we are. My pending knee replacement and other health issues have resigned me to the fact that I'll never be able to take on an auto project again. The car will need to be prepped for re-starting. I was quoted $600. by a local Jaguar/Land Rover mechanic to get it prepped for running, but anyone with any snap could do it for a fraction of that. This car is solid, as the interior was stripped out just before it became marooned in my garage and my Ziebart tech neighbor did his thing, so the floorboards, trunk, etc. are rustproofed. I drained the gas tank and carburetors at it's hibernation to prevent any varnish nightmares. I will list any flaws and what the car would need: The convertible top was purchased in 1990 and was NIB until a year ago when I installed it. I accidentally popped one of the webbing straps near the rear right window trying to stretch it on, on a cool day, so that will need to be replaced-an easy fix. The old top didn't want to let go of the windshield snaps so I had to screw them off to remove it, so a few snaps are needed. I believe I may have them in a box of assorted hardware that I have for the car. Two of the painted wire wheels have corrosion due to a damned cat my wife once owned, spraying it's little graffiti on the wheels in drive-by fashion as it re-entered the little animal door of my garage. It received no other damage from this now long gone critter. The remaining 3 wires are in great shape and need only retouching or repainting if you like. Somewhere in it's previous history, the gearshift knob turned into an Austin-Healey knob-I haven't a clue. The seats are in great shape,as is the cockpit vinyl. The instrument panel has paint flaking. The carpet is mid 80's and smells like my Grandma's closet-you'll want to replace it, but it still looks decent. The tires have dried but they still are holding air. In July 2009, we sold the house, and now the car is stored in my cousin's garage. In the move, the flip up gas cap somehow disappeared and wifey's big arse knocked off the driver's side fender mirror. Both items are available through Moss Motors and Victoria British. The car has a few little paint nicks here and there, but nothing serious. The chrome looks good and has only a little rusty discoloration at the back bumper caps. The side curtains have some vinyl peeling that can be glued or re-upholstered. The plexiglass has age,of course, but visibility is very good. I have the tonneau top and the car cover. I will set the reserve very low for the condition this car is in, so someone is getting a gift and the potential for a very profitable investment. I really wish for a buyer who will put it into their own garage, refurbish what's needed and enjoy it. So, there you have it. The buyer assumes all shipping, moving costs, logistics, etc. as my health won't allow me to take on that responsibility. Houston is one of the largest shipping ports in the world,so the car is available worldwide. PayPal,Cashiers Check,Personal verified check and cash at pickup accepted. $500. deposit required through PayPal within 3 days of auction close, full payment within 7 days of auction close.Any questions-email or call 713-485-4379 good luck on this awesome TR3AOn Apr-28-10 at 11:47:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to add-I have found the flip up gas cap,and also a bag of assorted, snaps, fittings for the car.
