Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 For Sale, 1931 Model A Pick-Up This is a real fun 1931 Model A Pick-up. I purchased it in the early 70’s while working in Central California. It was in original shape and needed lots of work. Several years later my dad bought a 1931 Model A five window coup. It was in a lot better shape with a recently rebuilt engine. Over the years we kept them stored in a friend’s barn in the City of Industry. Dad really wanted to see the pick-up fixed up so we decided that we would try to trade the five window to someone that would restore the pick-up. I was doing business with a company in Riverside in early 2000 and while having lunch with my customer I was sharing the stories of these two classics and what our plans were. Several days latter he called me and said that he was not only interested in the deal but anxious to start right away. It took several years but the end result was a great success. Since my friend was only interested in the five window chassis, and the fact that it had the rebuilt engine and straight frame, he completely restored the pick-up body and interior and set it on the five window frame resulting in the “best of both worlds”. For a non professional restoration it turned out far better than my or my dad’s expectations. It’s not a show car by any means, but it runs and looks great and is a gas to drive. For the enthusiast that loves to “tinker” while having an immediate driver this is the answer. Perhaps my best memory of this whole experience was my dad’s reaction when I drove it down to San Clemente for him to see for the first time. He just sat in a chair and looked at it and shook his head. Dad passed away several years later but my memory of him seeing his pick-up was worth the whole process. Since the completion of the restoration several years ago it has been stored in Fullerton, Calif. To get it running for sale I purchased a new battery but still couldn’t get it to run. Not being a mechanic myself, I placed a call to the Orange County Model A Club seeking a contact that could give me a hand. I got the phone numbers of several club members and last week made arrangements for one of the guys to meet me. Not only did I find the right guy but I got two for one. These guys were both long time Model A owners, and believe me knew everything there was to know about the cars. After cleaning out a plugged fuel line, we not only got it running but I got a very positive “thumb-up” report card on the car and engine from these two “experts”. I also recently replaced the radiator with a brand new one. Now ready to go again with another new owner to enjoy. Well, if you’re interested I hope I have provided a little better picture of this really fun vehicle.
