~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1967 A timeless and elegant classic – fully restored to concours standard. This first of the Silver Shadow series is finished in Old Ivory with tan Connolly hide interior. It is highlighted with hand-painted contrasting fine pin-striping to the waist-line and hub-cap beauty rings. This car is the result of an earlier restoration of considerable proportions. Owned by a very fussy collector, the car was totally restored some 15 years ago at a cost of in excess of $35,000. It was subsequently displayed at shows and Rolls-Royce club meets and won shows accordingly. It is truly stunning and remains a show contender today having only traversed some 5,000 miles since. The best way to describe this Silver Shadow is to imagine you bought it new in 1967, you drove it only 5,000 miles over the next 15 years keeping it garaged whenever not in use and completely “babied”. Pretend it is now 1982 and the car is virtually like new. This is the condition of the car today. As part of the restoration, the car was stripped to bare metal, chrome off and all windows out. The repaint in traditional Old Ivory** was at a cost of in excess of $12,000 in the mid 90s. All bright-work was then polished (and re-chromed where required) and the car reassembled with all new body rubber seals and gaskets. The fine-lines were hand-painted by one of the few remaining craftsmen of the art. The body is straight and the paint totally consistent & deep in luster. There is not a single tale-tell sign of the typical Rolls-Royce checking and/or cracking as a result of their use of the "lead wiping technique" (a process whereby craftsmen used lead to join and fill body panels. As a consequence of the differing expansion properties of lead versus alumimum and steel, the paint surface would stress and crack over time). The interior is an amazing feat. All totally new; headliner redone in original quality broad-cloth, carpets in Wilton wool with correct leather binding, over-rugs made to RR specifications. The leather was redone in correct Connolly hide leather specifically flown in from England and hides hand-selected to ensure the same uniformity - a technique for which Rolls-Royce craftsmen are famous for. The re-upholstering of the leather is a perfect match to factory original with seat patterns down to every seam exactly as per Rolls-Royce from new. You will not see one stitch line or fold that is not according to the factory design. The job has been so meticulously carried out, at first, I thought it was original - with the only clue of it being new, the fact that the leather is baby soft (please look at all photos to see close-up pix). Only upon removing one of the seats and checking the underside markings was I able to confirm they have been re-done. It is truly THAT stunning! The interior re-upholstery work cost some $15,000 alone. All the wood inside the car was also redone by Rolls-Royce French polishing experts so it is in excellent condition - the dash, front & rear window embellishings, all 4 door cappings, picnic tables and vanity mirrors. The cost of this work today (to this high standard of finish) is some $3,500. The African burl walnut throughout has a beautiful rich grain that really “pops” with its glass like finish. And, the factory commissioned picnic tables deliver a wonderful surprise when opened through the use of dark Mahogany on the tray side which is truly exquisite. The trunk space is equally immaculate. All features and functions are fully operational with air conditioning, heating, windows and seats operating properly. Even the clock ticks away silently. As you would expect from a car of show standard, every light bulb, down to the most insignificant in the dash, work as they should. You will also see all screws and fasteners on the vehicle are of original quality and “set” to factory standards. The only non-original feature is the radio which was replaced with a 90s “top-end” bespoke unit. The installation was very professional (and no doubt VERY expensive at the time) but as it is not original, I would recommend its replacement for a traditional unit. (This can be arranged but I thought the decision best be left to the purchaser). Mechanically, this Silver Shadow is complete with good hydraulics and brakes and a very smooth operating engine. It has been fully work-shop tested so everything is in top shape. I drove her on a 150 mile cruise in early spring and she performed effortlessly. The 67,000 miles are not verifiable although the smooth operation of all the mechanicals and the overall condition of the car is consistent with a low mileage example. I would suggest the miles are indeed accurate. You would be forgiven for guessing it had travelled only a fraction of those miles showing. The engine truly purrs and yet has considerable power, it drives without any of the typical rattles and thumps of this model and the car stops surely. Tyres are in excellent condition. Naturally, the car comes with its original operating manual and correct jack & tools. **Please note the colour of the car is "Old Ivory" which is a very warm off-white colour. This doesn't show too well in the photos so I have included a few additional photos of the car sitting next to a traditional "English white" Rolls-Royce taken under indoor light to make the comparison. These can be seen below and at the photo link to follow. The Old Ivory is a truly elegant colour for this all-time classic.** ~~ The release of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in 1966 took the motoring world by storm and left even the most renowned luxury car manufacturers with dropped jaws and consumers in awe. It was to be the single most successful model ever to be produced by Rolls-Royce Motors. This one is a beautiful example and provides as an excellent all-round 9¾ out of 10 collectable. Remember, it was a concours 10-out-of-10 car 15 years ago! It has the makings for display registration at your next club show or simply take it as it is to your next Rolls-Royce & Bentley meet with confidence. ~~ Many more photographs are available at the following link. I highly recommended you view these to best ascertain the fine condition of this gorgeous example: Click HERE to see 100s of additional photos! ~~The Silver Shadow, in particular the early 1966 to 1968 model years, represent the dawn of a whole new model for Rolls-Royce with the then revolutionary monocoque body design. These early cars were the result of design and engineering over many years without the modifications that crept in over subsequent years to accommodate international safety design rules and requirements. The expansive wood dash-board, full chrome interior door handles and seat design were without the limitations set by emerging standards – most prominent in the US. This enabled the elegance of a plethora of burl walnut and chrome accents that exquisitely distinguished the “new” Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and presenting the cars as they were intended – not as they “needed” to become.~~ ~~oo00oo~~ The 2 photos below compare this Silver Shadow in “Old Ivory” to the common “English white”. The warmer, richer “cream” colour of Old Ivory is classic. The photos in daylight do not pick up the timeless elegance of the “Old Ivory” colour, but it can be clearly seen in real-life. ~~oo00oo~~ This Rolls-Royce is part of my private collection. I am not a broker or retail car dealer; I am a professional car collector of some 25 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid of make an offer. You are bidding and/or making offers to buy WITHOUT conditions. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right the keep the deposit and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard but the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 43 years old. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-43 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars from where I bought them to my home. PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, DO NOT BID. ~~oo00oo~~
