Vehicle Detail
1978 Ferrari 308 GTS NO RESERVE AUCTION I have owned this particular Ferrari for 5 years, and has been cared for with no expense spared. Two years ago, I had the entire engine taken out, and had a complete rebuild, replacing every possible 'wear and tear' item bringing it back to 'as new' to factory specs (I fell into the 'since we are in there' trap). I have full receipts and photos for all the work done and parts replaced. Here is a short list to give you an idea of the extent of the service and parts: New valves (in order to replace the weak factory hollow exhaust valves that are infamous for breaking)Manganese-bronze valve guidesModern Teflon valve sealsElectronic IgnitionEvery single gasket in the engine replaced with Ferrari originalsMain Engine BearingsPiston RingsHeads and block rebuilt by Ferrari machine shop including new head studs to ensure a factory tight sealNew water pumpNew alternatorAll 4 Webber carburators completely rebuiltNew Belts, Tension Bearings and SpringsAll new engine mountsTop of the line hoses throughout (both Fuel and Coolant) with all new clampsClutch the list goes on........ I also have a suspension kit with all new bushings that is still in the original packaging. The car body is in excellent condition, with no rust or scratches, and I have upgraded it with the Euro Deep Spoiler. The interior is in good shape with all switches, controls and gauges properly working. I spent close to $18,000 for the parts and labor listed above. I also have a Testarossa that is a concours winner (not for sale), so my 308 must go to make room for my new Gallardo. I don't have time to play games, therefore have priced the car at what it will sell. If you are an interested buyer, please contact me if you have any further questions. Good luck to all. On 26-Apr-10 at 16:04:10 EDT, seller added the following information: I am currently away on business, and have had a number of people wanting to see the engine in the car. Fortunately, I just found 2 pictures on my BlackBerry of the engine done and in the car, and another from a few weeks ago when I washed it and my Testarossa.
