Selling my 1997 BMW R1200C. This bike was built in April 1997 but sold and registered in 1998. For some reason, it was titled as a 1998 model. The R1200C was introduced in 1997 and featured in the James Bond movie "Tomorrow never dies" from 1997 but not offered for sale until 1998. This particular ABS equipped bike was among the first 100 examples of 40,218 R1200C sold worldwide. The VIN shows that it was the 76th R1200C built. Engine number is 258. You won't be able to find a lower VIN, especially in this condition. Color is canyon red metallic, very hard to find, with hand painted white pinstripes matched with leather driver and passenger seats in canyon brown. The paint is all original, with very minor scratches which won't even show up in the pictures. The over 20 years old leather is in surprisingly good condition due to its frequent treatment with high quality leather care products. Exhaust headers show the typical heat discolorations. Taillight is still the original '97/ '98 version with the attached license plate holder. There are no cracks around the upper screws, which was one of the major complaints for the early R1200C versions. Original tool kit and owners manual are included. Metzeler Marathon tires. Battery and timing chain tensioner were replaced in January 2019. (The old spring loaded timing chain tensioner had a design flaw, the new one is hydraulic). Matching HTC kevlar/ fiber glass helmet and awesome LED accent lights. Runs perfectly. No issues. No blinking ABS warning lights. Current mileage is 12,839, which might be higher at the end of the auction. Bike is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
