1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbodiesel Sedan (W123)Justin 503-969-5127 Hello and thanks for checking out my auction. I am listing a very nice and original 1985 300D Turbodiesel. Always a west coast US automobile, it is 100% RUST FREE. It is finished in Beige and has Palomino MB-Tex interior. I have had the pleasure of driving this classic Benz for the last several weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed every mile. I sincerely wish that cars were still made to last forever like these cars were. This car is unbelievably remarkable. I know i'm preaching to the choir to most of you, but this car is solid as a rock, safe and sturdy, powerful, incredibility reliable and economical too. The condition of the vehicle is very good. The paint is nice and shines well. It does have a few blemishes that are represented in the photos, but most would consider it to be driver quality nice. There are also two areas on either side of the trunk that the clear-coat has started to peal and been resealed. I cant seem to take a picture that highlights this issue. It's pretty minor, but worth mentioning. The bumpers and grill are laser straight and the chrome is perfect. One of the amber headlights has moisture inside but still works fine. The antenna is aftermarket and non power. All the glass and mirrors are excellent. The sunroof opens easily, but likes a little assistance in closing. The windows were power from the factory, but somewhere along the road somebody replaced the passenger and both rear door windows with manual cranks. They work great. The drivers window is still power and works fine as well. A bluetooth stereo was added and has a mic for handsfree phone calls. The interior is in great shape as this MB-Tex wears like iron. The camera made the color look goofy but in real life it looks correct. The carpets are nice and clean, but the left front fits oddly and could possibly be a rear duplicate. The headliner is excellent, but the seat netting is loose and could be replaced or deleted. The door panels are tight and excellent. The climate control works properly and heats up hot and the A/C blows cold with R134a refrigerant. The tires are in excellent condition and look to bee 80%+. The brakes stop the vehicle without pulling left or right and with little pedal effort. The suspension is tight and the alignment is straight. The engine is tuned perfectly and operates with no smoke or blow-by whatsoever. The car was idling during every photo. Even under turbo acceleration, no smoke is emitted from the exhaust pipe. In the 2 weeks in my garage, I have noticed one spot of oil about the size of a quarter. A performance intake was added at some point. The engine compartment is very clean and free of residue. Complex to the untrained eye, but well sorted to those who wrench. I caught several mechanics marveling at the design when I had the oil changed. The Mercedes starts instantly hot or cold with one cycle of the glow plugs and the engine idles easily without assistance.Power is smooth and consistent. Acceleration on the highway is actually impressive. It is no small wonder why it was typical for a new buyer of this car to wait a year on a list to get one. I've been getting mid 20s for fuel economy all in all and i'm sure I could better that one the highway with some forethought.The transmission shifts easily through all its gears and never behaves strangely. I will add pictures on the underside when I have access to a lift later today but again, there is NO RUST ANYWHERE on this car. I am selling this Mercedes Turbo Diesel with NO RESERVE.
