If you have been looking for a beautiful, serviced, wonderful driving, FUNCTIONING Range Rover, wait no longer! Background:Let me begin with a little background. This truck was ordered in a BEAUTIFUL color and option package. There are few color combinations that look as pretty as British Racing Green over Lightstone on a Range Rover. It was also optioned with the upgraded HSE package! Which included the larger, more powerful 4.6L V8 engine. This HSE (or High Specification Edition) had a base price of over $62,000 in 1998 and was the top of the line Range Rover for 1998. It came stock with 18" Mondial wheels chrome exhaust tip, leather covered shifter, and Homelink garage door opener built in. CLEAN title and CLEAN Carfax. No accidents and SoCal dry! The Condition and Service: This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service! Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:This engine and truck have LOW MILES (less than 5,200 a year), only 104,000 miles appear on the odometer and the entire truck shows the same care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition. The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! This was the upgraded 4.6L V8 which made 225hp @4750rpm and 280ft lbs of tq @3000rpm. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS -HEAD GASKETSAs part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received brand new OEM head gaskets and OEM headbolts less than 3,000 miles ago. It was installed by a master Rover tech with decades of experience. The truck runs COOL as can be and the needle doesn't budge from the 12 o'clock position. It also has totally rebuilt heads! New valve stem seals, pressure tested, surfaced and cleaned! -UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE GASKETSWhile being serviced, the valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets, valve stem seals and upper intake gaskets, all resealed among a few other minor seals. NONE of these were leaking, but were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The truck recently received a crank seal which was causing a small drip. -LOWER ENGINEGreat shape, no knocks, noises or mechanical issues!! As with ALL Rovers there is some minor "moisture" at oil pan seals, power steering etc. Its the British car way. -RADIATORThe radiator is BRAND NEW. The prior radiator had a crack on the upper neck. The temp needle NEVER moves past the 50% mark even with the AC on and in traffic. -HOSESNew OEM upper and lower radiator hoses, heater core hoses and breather hoses! -THERMOSTATNew thermostat replaced during full servicing! -IGNITIONBrand new Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and wires. -EMERGENCY BRAKERecently adjusted and tight, only a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight -TRANSMISSIONThe trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great! This is the ZF 4HP22-E trans and feels great! -DIFFS and DRIVESHAFTSNew gear oil in the diffs and lubricated u-joints -FUEL PUMPThe truck received a BRAND NEW fuel pump to replace a weaker pump. Great fuel pressure and runs like a beast! -BATTERYThe truck cranks up right away and has years of carefree service ahead of it. Lets move to the suspension and brakes: -BRAKESBrake pads in the front and rear have loads of pad life! The truck brakes great. No ABS lights! NO TC lights! ABS pump very quickly builds pressure, pedal feels great and no leaks or issues! -AIR SUSPENSIONThis is the REAL CHERRY for a P38 Range Rover. Most people/mechanics get scared to service the Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) on these trucks and convert them to springs in order to not get involved. This truck has had the air suspension completely serviced and checked and is FULLY FUNCTIONING. There are no codes, no ride height sensor, valve block, EAS computer or airbag issues. This truck rides WONDERFUL. Ahhhh, cushy wonderful air suspension is a treat! Cushy over bumps, but tight from great shocks in the corners. The truck features a toggle switch on the dash that allows for 4 preset ride heights. 1) Access Mode - low vehicle height meant just to ease access in and out of the truck. 2) Highway Mode - the truck automatically lowers to height between Normal mode and Access Mode in order to keep center of gravity lower during highway speeds. 3) Normal Road Mode - this mode is the default ride height to drive around town. 4) Off-Road Mode - raises ride height to a maximum height for clearing obstacles, fording water, or general off-road or clearance requiring driving. The switch in the dash toggles up Modes 1,3 and 4 (2 is automatic only) and ride height lock button works great to prevent the system from changing heights if you need to maintain access mode in a garage etc. For the Rover nut keep reading! The bronze line collars have been replaced on most lines, valve block has been rebuilt. EAS computer has been checked manually as well as run through Rover software to show proper sync. The truck sits level and does not lower down to the bump stops overnight like SO many trucks do. This truck stays at the ride height it was left at! No leaks!!!! You can hear it adjust pressure, self level and fully operate. -STEERINGThe steering is tight and has no excess play. Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINTThe paint is overall good with some minor flaws! It is a 7 out of 10 easily. There is only minor signs of wear. There are few minor dings which are very hard to see in pics and in person, some minor flaws (chips, fade, scratches, dried wax in some corners, etc). There is one larger ding on the upper drivers side rear door. Paintless dent removal quoted at $150 to remove. There is one slightly smaller than that ding on the rear pass corner above the tail light. Was quoted about the same to remove. There are few stained spots on the hood and minor flaws on the hood. There is the typical clear coat fade on the roof. But that is the trade off for a nice dry CA truck! Some clearcoat fade for NO RUST. Take that east coast Rovers! Remember this is a 20 year old truck, there may be some minor scratches, wear etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Range Rovers or cars of this year. I try to explain these the trucks the best I can! Its hard if not impossible to see in pics and you have to be right up on it to see it in person. Could almost not mention it just trying to be thorough!!! -WHEELSMondial wheels are in good shape with no major flaws or curbing. One small center cap has some paint rubbed off. -GLASSNot to let a pebble defeat this truck, the windshield is great shape as well as the other glass. -TRAILER HITCHThe truck has a factory trailer hitch and is wired up and ready to tow. Onto the cabin:-SEATSThe Lightstone leather seats are very nice with only minor crazing or wrinkles. Quite nice for 20 years! They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. -DOOR PANELSAll of the panels are free of dents or major defects. -HEADLINERBRAND NEW headliner and sun shade liner -CARPETNice carpet and full OEM Range Rover floor mat set! No stains from heater core leaks lke -POWER SEATSAll power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Range Rover! -POWER LOCKSAll doors lock and unlock with central locking function. The keyless entry unlocks and locks all doors and arms the alarm. RARE to find a good working system in a P38! The buttons on the remote key are functional but the rubber cover is missing. Replacements are very cheap here on eBay. -POWER WINDOWSWindows all work! The driver side front window is a bit slow mid way up the track. It is a slightly worn plastic guide. They again are quite cheap and easy to replace if it is bothersome to the next owner. -RADIO/CD CHANGERAftermarket radio sounds very nice. Once and a while if you press hard on the face plate the display will go off. The radio still works fine though and it comes back on right away. -AC/HEAT/HVAC PanelAC is cold and Heat is hot! This is not the typical P38 HVAC panel that you have to click your heels and pat your head and pray to the moon gods to get it to work right. The fan control knob works great, the driver and passenger dual zone climate control, blend motors and vent controls all work. Auto temp mode works great too!! Heated seats like near all P38 do not work. -DASHBOARDGreat condition dash pad! -MIRRORSPower mirrors work perfectly including reverse dip. -WOODVery nice wood on the console, doors and dash! The finish is great and the stain is smooth -STEERING WHEELThe leather is nice with only minor flaws, no serious wear or split seams! The ExperienceDriving this Range Rover is fantastic. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. Its got all the power it had from the factory and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Rover. I bought this truck back in I believe 2012 or 2013 and put a lot of work put into it to make it ready for duty anywhere. I believe it had 79k miles on it at the time. After some lovely time with it, I sold it to a friend who then continued to drive and enjoy it. After his family and needs required a slightly larger truck, it bought it back again to enjoy further. It has been a wonderful truck, and it is especially wonderful to have working EAS. It is like a couch! It pains me to see it leave the "family" so to speak, but with one too many Rovers already, its a bit of "last in-first out". This is a great truck that you will not have to dump TONS of money into and this is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! There is well over $10k in recent scheduled and preventive service alone in this truck so you are ready to go another 100k+++ of care free miles. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend 3 times as much to get it to this level of service! Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to describe accurately the shape of the truck, but keep in mind it is impossible to discuss every detail of a car for better or worse. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a car that however is very good condition. This is a nice Rover of this year, but please just remember that no car is perfect. It is though a clean, very nice Rover! Rovers require more care and feeding than Hondas and Toyotas, but thankfully tons of Rover issues have been dealt with already. Though note like Euro cars, they will require more proactive service. Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service.
