Vehicle Detail
This is the third and final time this car will be listed for auction on eBay. The past two auction winners have flaked; they did not complete deposit, nor did they respond to a single one of my messages. Bidders with minimal feedback are required to contact me otherwise your bid will be removed. The stock wheels and a set of snow tires will now be included free of cost. For sale is a 2007 6 Speed BMW 328i (E90), as seen on the JD Cars Automotive YouTube Channel. Let me start off by saying that this car is absolutely loaded with customizations and upgrades. Instead of typing up a novel on each and everything done to the car, I've created an organized spreadsheet: As you can see, this car has copious upgrades and modifications, on top of extensive preventative maintenance. $10,521 in upgrades, modifications, and maintenance to be exact! Something this spreadsheet does not take into account is labor. My Favorite Upgrades Include:Evil Energy Electric Exhaust Valve - I am fairly confident this is the only 328i you will find listed for sale with a custom electronic exhaust valve. This unique modification has been my favorite upgrade since the day I installed it. The electric valve is welded in just before the muffler; when the valve is opened, it bypasses the muffler for a louder, sporty exhaust note. The best part of this setup is that you can go right back to the silent, stock exhaust with the push of a button!Eonon GA7165 Touchscreen Stereo - This was the first substantial upgrade I made to the car. When I first purchased it, the car was equipped with an outdated AM/FM radio. The new Eonon touchscreen offers lots of new functionality; it has everything you would expect in a new vehicle including bluetooth and Spotify. The unit is essentially an android tablet; the possibilities are endless.Avant Garde Wheels & Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires - This car came eqipped with stock 16" rims and some serious winter tires. These work exceptionally well in the snow, but a new set of wheels and tires were essential for the summer. I selected Avant Garde M310 forged wheels and I wrapped them in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The car is currently running 18x8 wheels (225/40ZR18 tires) in the front and wider 18x9 wheels (255/35ZR18 tires) in the rear. Additionally, the car is equipped with 15mm machined wheel spacers all the way around. This bumps the tires out a bit more for perfect fitment.Sprint Booster - This three-button switch may be tiny, but its impact on the car's performance is tremendous. The basic function of the sprint booster is to remap the throttle. It alters the signal sent to the engine to decrease lag, increase responsiveness, and ultimately, make the car faster. This can all be fine-tuned (or turned off) right from the driver's seat.aFe Magnum Force Air Intake & Air Dynamic Scoops - This is aFe's top of the line air intake. It allows the naturally aspirated engine to breathe much better; this is noticeable in the driving feel as well as in how the car sounds. VIPmotoz HID Headlights - These are not the first pair of headlights I've installed on the E90, but they were certainly the brightest! The low beams are equipped with HID bulbs, the high beams are equipped with LED bulbs, and the halos are powered by extremely bright LEDs. What makes these headlights so unique are the opaque 3D crystal halos. They look sick.M-Sport Steering Wheel Cover - The install of this steering wheel cover truly tried my patience... it took about 6 hours stitching the cover on by hand. The being said, it was well worth the time. The extra thickness in the wheel is far superior to the skinny, stock wheel. The M Sport color stitching and red race indicator also look sweet. AC Shnitzer Shift Knob - Similar to the steering wheel, this shift knob greatly improves the driver-car connection. The new shift knob looks far better, but its substantial size and solid construction make for a much more enjoyable driving experience.Ultimate Brake Rotors & Cool Carbon Pads - These Ultimate Brake Rotors, from Bavarian Autosport, are some serious rotors. There drilled and slotted look isn't the only thing that's aggressive; their braking performance is unmatched. Performing some braking tests revealed that they reduced stopping distance by more than 25%. Going fast is fun, but being able to stop is pretty important too.ISC N1 Coilovers - This coilover suspension system was a hefty investment, but it has made a massive improvement in the car's handling characteristics. These coilovers have eliminated nearly all of the slop and body roll of the stock suspension system. Combined with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires, this car handles like it's on rails. No joke. This car handles corners like a dream.Bimland Red Start/Stop Button - Not much to speak of, but the little things make a difference such as the 30% window tint, carbon fiber interior trim, and this start/stop button. Just a fun quick upgrade to make the interior a little more sporty.Seibon BM Style Full Carbon Fiber Hood - This upgrade made the car look a bit more than "a little more sporty." The full carbon fiber M3 style hood was mostly a cosmetic upgrade, but I do think it has made the front end feel lighter as well. The interior carbon fiber trim and the carbon hood complement each other very nicely.Valeo Single Mass Flywheel & Clutch - Replacing the pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel is by far the most challenging repair/upgrade I've done on this car. BMWs typically come with a dual mass flywheel to make operation smoother; this comes at the consequence of a springy/squishy transmission feeling and slight power loss. I eliminated these flaws with a Valeo single mass flywheel. The transmission is now much more responsive to throttle inputs. I completed the clutch/flywheel replacement just a few weeks ago to ensure the next buyer does not have to have a shop replace the clutch to the tune of $3,000+(I have created in depth videos covering the the installation/review of all items listed above, and on the spreadsheet. If you would like to learn more about the car and/or see up close shots, I encourage you to browse the JD Cars YouTube Channel). Something this list and spreadsheet does not take into account is labor. I have invested well over 150 hours of strenuous labor into this car. The average hourly rate for independent repair shops (not dealerships) is $70-90/hr. Every car enthusiast knows they will not recoup even half of their efforts in customizing a vehicle, but please take into account the enormous amount of time that has been invested in this vehicle in addition to the parts. The Driving Experience: With the six speed manual transmission and performance upgrades, this truly is a drivers car. The aFe Magnum Force air intake, electric exhaust valve, and Sprint Booster make this in-line six scream. I've investigated the six speed E90 gear ratios and compared them to the automatic E90, and I found there is a substantial difference. To sum it up, this rear wheel drive six speed pulls hard. Rowing through the gears is an absolute joy. This is the last generation 3 series with the true heavy steering BMW is known for. This paired with the ISC suspension makes for extraordinary handling. This is by far my favorite aspect of the car. You can have all the power in the world, but if the car doesn't handle well, that power is useless other than in a straight line. This car has the perfect balance between weight, power, and handling. Having power and going fast is great, but being able to stop is important too. The Bavarian Autosport Ultimate Brake Rotors and Cool Carbon brake pads make this car stop on a dime (check out my brake results video). This car is an absolute joy to drive and I truly am sad to see it go. Now, as for the car's condition. As of my writing this, the car has 191,152 miles. This may be shocking to some but wait! Yes, it is common belief that high mileage vehicles tend to have lots of problems and in many cases this is true. However, this is anything but true in the case of the JD Cars 328i. Thousands have been invested in this car's maintenance alone. All major components prone to failure have either failed and been replaced, or have been replaced regardless of condition as preventative maintenance. Oil changes every 5,000 miles, with Castrol Edge (the highest ranked BMW approved oil) and replacement oil filters and seals every change. The entire coolant system was flushed and refilled last September. Full brake system flush and bleeding this past July, as well as a differential fluid replacement. Among many other maintenance efforts, the most expensive part replacement was completed this September: flywheel and clutch replacement. In conclusion, everything prone to failure has been replaced. This vehicle is powered by BMWs N52 inline six cylinder engine. The N52 has been in production for over a decade, and it has earned its reputation as one of BMWs most bulletproof engines ever made. I am truly confident in the condition and longevity of this vehicle. Being 14 years old, the car does have minor cosmetic wear. I do not intend to hide anything about this car; the cosmetic wear has been photographed (last five photos). The car will be listed for auction at $500 starting bid. No reserve. Highest bidder wins. I am willing to drive within 100 miles of Boston to personally deliver the car. Otherwise, the buyer is responsible for pickup/shipment of the vehicle. A second set of stock wheels with snow tires will be included free of cost regardless of the auction end price. Thanks for looking! If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Here are additional photos of the car in the sunlight. I wanted to add some pictures in the sunlight, and some pictures of the rear of the car but was unable to as I have reached the maximum number of photos on the listing and I am now unable to remove (or swap out) photos. I have embedded some pictures of the car in the sun into this description update. The paint is by no means perfect, but I wouldn't say it is in rough condition either. Note: The "minor issue" listed under "accidents" was not an accident. The car was keyed while parked. All scratched surfaces were professionally repaired at All Wheels, Beverly, MA. Additionally, the most recent 2017 recall was professionally replaced at BMW of Peabody.
