This E-Class is fitted with arguably one of the best engines Mercedes ever built and the last of the iron block turbodiesel, before the introduction of the much weaker all aluminum V6 with troubling emission system found on later model BlueTec’s. This has been my commuter car used to make weekly 1,000 mile commutes. It is extremely comfortable and has never let me down. On the highway, this car achieves an incredible 45 mpg at an average speed of 70 mph. Always maintained and properly serviced, this turbodiesel is barely broken in. Starts immediately in any weather and runs very strong. I just had the front struts replaced along with the water pump, radiator, battery, serpentine belt, brake disks, pads and sensors, as well as a fresh oil and filter change. The transmission shifts crisply through every gear. The suspension feels solid, but there is a little play in the ball joints, which is very commonly found on these cars. The steering is very responsive and nimble. The all season tires are nearly new. Everything works as it should including all power and electrical equipment, windows, and climate controls. There is a dummy seatbelt clip for the passenger seat due to a faulty occupancy sensor. This car has never been in an accident, but the front bumper cover was resprayed and when it was put back on the car, some of the plastic clips broke, which is the reason for the small gap that can be seen in the front. Please note that although this car is in very good condition overall, it is not new and will naturally show signs of age and wear, both mechanically and cosmetically.
