Beautiful condition 1968 R69US with telescopic forks, all numbers matching. This is the high-performance final model of the /2 series, making it both a link to BMW's great designs going back to the 30's, and a bike that delivers a distinctly modern thrill, with excellent parts availability. My son and I acquired this bike in 2015 and have found it to be a reliable, strong running machine. It starts within 3 kicks, and usually the first time. It shifts smoothly (given the period transmission). The brakes are at the standard of the era, and function very well, with high-friction modern shoe material. The saddle is a Steiger reproduction, and just one of many original or period-correct upgrades. The Albert headlight-mounted mirrors, the chrome headlight ring, the taillight chrome protector and the rear-fender mounted rack are others. We also have several options for the purchaser seeking exactly the bike configuration they want. A second Pagusa passenger single saddle, an original /2 two-up saddle, and if interested, a set of period-correct luggage and fairings. During our ownership, we've put around 1000 kms on this bike, and it has been extremely reliable. The previous owners are believed to have done extensive mechanical work: the pushrod seals are new and fresh, indicating a recent overhaul. It does not leak oil. The fluids have all been changed regularly, the cables have all been replaced and run very smoothly. The tires are in very good shape, and are believed to be new. The exhausts are in very good shape without rust and good chrome. These are specific to the S and US models. The centre and sidestands are in place and working properly. The bar-end Hella turn signals have been added and work correctly, and are period-correct. The bike also has a new coil, and is a 12-volt system with magneto. We also have two other tanks that can be substituted at a negotiated price. One is the smaller /2 type, original and in excellent condition with nearly perfect paint and striping, lacking the top tool box. The other is the same model as the one mounted, with original paint and stripes recently touched up by Black Widow in Guelph, and is beautiful. It was, at the time of its manufacture, the most expensive production bike made, and these bikes are great investments. This one is also a great rider.
