Vehicle Detail
Here is my 1979 Honda 400 CMT. The "T" stands for touring and is the higher class model of the CM's (aluminum wheels, tach, and a few more horsepower). I purchased this bike in 2013 from a cycle shop that was going out of business. The bike had been brought in for a tune up, and the owner came back to claim it when it was done so it set for a few years until the shop went out of business and sold off all its inventory and unclaimed bikes. I was told the original owner turned over the title to pay for the work done. So I do have clear title to the bike. The bike had just 3,300 original miles on it when I bought it. Because I liked the older bike look, I had the bike painted Harley "Cadillac blue" at a body shop and applied new decals to it. It is really a nice looking bike. While the bike is low mileage for a 1979, like I said, it had set for awhile so here is what I have had done to it: brand new tires (less than 300 miles on them), wheels balanced, new front brake pads & hoses, new front brake hydraulic reservoir, new rear brake shoes, new chrome headers from England (very high quality), new coils, spark plug wires & plugs (it has electronic ignition), one brand new oem carb & the other thouroughly cleaned and re-jetted, all new wiring, all new lighting bulbs and/or lenses, new battery and horn. All worked preformed by motorcycle shop mechanic in Flint Michigan. This bike is rated a 42 horsepower and it certainly feels like it! The seat is original and in great condition. I'm selling the bike because I had heart by-pass surgery and won't be riding for a while. There are no front fork leaks, oil leaks or gas leaks (I had the tank chemically cleaned/lined, lined, new fuel petcock & fuel lines installed). I had all this done because I ride out in the country and wanted no break downs out in the boon docks, it has certainly exhibited the usual Honda quality and reliability. What's wrong with it? The speedo starts jumping around at 65 mph, I haven't had a chance to look at it and I usually don't cruise over 55 mph anyway. The mechanic said since it sat for so long it the cable probably needs lubing. Surges a bit at about 70mph, not missing) mechanic saidto run a little Sea Foam thru it each fill up and it had nearly completely stopped when I stored it 2 years ago. That's it, lube that cable and just needs to be ridden with some sea foam! Bidding starts at $1600 with a low reserve. Please ask questions. Thanks!
