Vehicle Detail

1971 Cougar convertible. Runs great and drives ok but not quite ready for a long road trip. Great fixer upper or restoration project. I bought this car last year but recently found a survivor '72 coupe that I couldn't pass up, and I can't keep both. This car was in long term storage until a couple local kids bought it and began fixing it up. They installed a new gas tank, Edelbrock 600cfm carb with electric choke, water pump, mufflers, and misc parts. They got the car running very well and began driving the car but lost storage. Marti report documents the original options - Yellow, black leather interior, rimblow wheel, tilt steering column, 3.00 traction lok, sport mirror. It also came from the factory with a 3 speed manual transmission which was changed at some point for a C6 auto trans. (I do do have a rebuilt correct 3 speed trans and shifter available separately if the buyer is interested). The car is exactly as I found it. Motor was supposedly rebuilt and it runs strong - 351C with stock 2 barrel heads, performer intake, 4bbl carb, mild cam, and headers. It starts easily and runs strong. Idle is a bit lopey but its not a radical build by any means. Its your typical street/towing cam. Transmission leaks when the car sits for a while, and the brakes aren't 100%. But aside from that it does drive ok. The car does have rust - floors, inner rockers/frame, trunk, trunk lid. There are some previous repairs on the quarters and fenders. Please see photos for details. Hood has been drilled for a factory GT hood scoop which is no longer on the car. Leather seats are stiff but not beyond saving. Tilt column works. Odometer shows 79k miles. Still has the rare XR7 non-AC dash with the Cougar vent delete plate and manual vent handle. Tach works intermittently. Lights work. Top motor works but top material has holes. 3.00 tracktion lock axle is still installed and is good and tight. Clear Ohio title in my name. Located in Amelia, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati (zip 45102). Questions, inspections, etc welcome.
