Vehicle Detail

This is a 1999 VW New Beetle, automatic with just under 132000 miles. The vehicle does have a new battery installed a month ago. It was taken to a mechanic to diagnose or repair an overheating problem, hoping it was just a stuck thermostat. It was not. It is believed to have at minimum a bad head gasket. I do not want to pay to have that work performed and am too lazy to do the job myself. My loss is your gain, yadda yadda yadda. While being looked at the TCU was reset and it is in learning mode, the problem with this is that it isn't getting a proper temperature read out or even being driven long enough to learn. As a result the transmission is slow to engage first gear or reverse at start up. It did not have this problem when first received and has had no problems shifting though gears before it was put in learning mode. (I've personally had the vehicle at high highway speeds without issue) The vehicle was bought for another person and when we saw it had the overheating issue it was decided that we wouldn't bother with fixing it and we purchased another vehicle in it's place. This car will be sold to the high bidder. I generally have no real knowledge of the history of this vehicle and really don't know much about it, if you have any questions, i'll try my best to answer, but I don't know how much help I'll be with my answers. The vehicle is sold "as is where is with all faults". The car is best suited for someone that can perform the work themselves. It is not recommended for someone that is going to have to pay labor to someone to perform the job. It is lingering right around 132,000 miles and outside of the aforementioned issues seems fine. The car can be driven in it's current state, but I wouldn't drive it far....It will overheat in about 5 miles of travel(I'd recommend trailering it) high bidder to pay nonrefundable deposit of $200 at auctions end to hold/secure the vehicle... the balance due upon pick up.
