Vehicle Detail
Excellent condition 1986 TVR 280i S2 with 23917 miles - believed to be original miles (rubber pedal pads still have TVR on them which would indicate low mileage). Overall the car shows very well. Exterior paint is an older respray with some imperfections - some dust on the boot/trunk lid, a little blemishing below the gas flap and a little blemishing on the nose. Front bumper and spoiler lip are in nice condition with no signs of damage. The targa top and rear window section are rip free, the fabric is in good condition and the window plastic is nice and clear. The interior is excellent. USA spec'd cars came with a vinyl interior, leather seat fronts and bottoms, leather gear-stick gaiter and a leather handbrake gaiter. All the leather is soft. Seats are crack and rip free. The vinyl that trims the A post on the passenger side has come unglued - I believe as a result from the windscreen being replaced. Electric windows work well. Dashboard veneer is original and in nice condition. All gauges are functional. The aluminium bezels around the gauges were custom handmade in England. The rear speakers on the parcel shelf are believed to have been installed in the late 80s. They are working but after 30 years the sound is not the best. The stereo is modern with Bluetooth capabilities. Electric boot/trunk release is working. The car was originally fitted with A/C but this has been removed - not necessary in a car like this in my opinion but all the components come with the car if you feel you want to reinstall it. The car has a solid chassis, having benefited from spending time in the dryer States of the west. When I first got the car I removed the sills/rocker panels and inspected the outriggers (the most fragile area of the chassis) these were found to be good and solid. I repainted them and waxed oiled them. I have owned the car for approximately 3.5 years and during that time I have replaced the brake master-cylinder, rebuilt the front brake calipers, installed a new fuel accumulator, replaced all the injectors, installed a new steering rack, plugs, distributor cap and wires. I also found some original OEM Koni dampeners - ultra rare. The original cat located under the oil sump has been removed and replaced with two high flow cats at the rear. I am a fanatic about my cars and keep up with all the maintenance regardless. The car receives a full service at the start of each driving season - fresh oil, coolant, filters and a chassis grease. The Bosch injection system is working well and the car starts with no issues, makes good power, drives straight and doesn't have any overheating issues. I have only driven the car on dry roads and it's always garaged. Please be mindful that this is a hand-built low volume British sports car and inherent eccentric qualities come as standard. AutoCheck comes back with a 55 rating due to mileage records. Looking at the records, it appears that when it was smogged in CA the testing station mistakenly added an extra digit. Car currently needs no work to be driven and enjoyed. I am happy to answer any questions. Thank you for looking. LEGAL STUFF: This is an auction, so please bid to win and not waist people's time. A $1000 deposit via PayPal is required within 24 hours of the auction closing. With full payment by cash, wire transfer or cashiers check and collection of the car due within 7 days of the auction closing. Any shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the sale price of the car but I am happy to assist in making arrangements. I have tried to represent the car honestly and pinpoint any imperfections but one person's interpretation can be different to another. Viewing or an inspection prior to the auction closing is welcome and recommended. The car is being sold 'as is' and 'where is'.
