Vehicle Detail
This is my 1966 Honda CB450 K0 known as the Black Bomber and it has been in my collection of early Honda motorcycles for 5 years. The motorcycle is in excellent condition. It was restored 4 years ago and painted in the original silver and black. The chrome components have either been re-plated(headlight ring, handle bar, header pipes, clutch arm, rear shock covers, lift handle, seat components, front fork seal retainers, and other misc. components) or are in excellent original condition. The seat cover has been replaced with material very close to the original. The fuel tank has been cleaned and coated with POR15. The front forks and carburetors have been rebuilt. The valves have been adjusted and the engine tuned. The tires have about 500 miles on them. It has original mufflers in very nice condition with no holes or rust out. The motorcycle runs and rides as well as it looks and draws a crowd whenever I ride. It is not perfect and will have an occasional minor nick since I do ride it, but I don't think you will find a nicer Black Bomber that you can actually ride. I have a clear title in my name. So why am I selling such a nice motorcycle? I have been collecting the early Honda motorcycles for about 14 years and focused on excellent original bikes that can be ridden. In about a month I turn 70 and I just had rotator cuff surgery so I think my riding days are coming to an end. I have 8 early bikes that I will be selling later on eBay and pictures of a few are shown in this listing but obviously are not a part of this sale. A $400 non refundable deposit by PayPal is required within 24 hrs. by the winning bidder. If the winning bidder comes to pick-up the bike in person and is not satisfied with the bike I will refund the $400 and cancel the auction. Once the bike leaves my possession it becomes an "as is sale". Final payment is to be in cash if picking up the bike in person or certified funds prior to shipping. I prefer personal pick-up but I will assist in shipping any way I can if the buyer makes all arrangements. If you have any questions or need additional pictures please let me know. The reserve is well below the estimated value given by Hagerty Classic Insurance Co. History of the 1965-1968 Honda CB 450 "Black Bomber" The 1965 Honda CB 450 – known as the “Black Bomber” in the U.S. – was Honda’s tentative step into performance street bikes and, like the Model T Ford, could only be had in black. By 1965, the company was already fully involved and successful in racing, with Jim Redman winning the Junior and 250 TT in the Isle of Man, but the CB 750 was four years away and the company was still known for small displacement bikes. The 305 cc Super Hawk had brought café thinking to Hondas in 1961 with its telescopic forks, tube frame and lively performance. The CB 450 was a natural progression that took aim at the British 500 cc Triumph and BSA twins. Its 43 bhp, DOHC 444 cc straight-twin had chain-driven cams, torsion-bar valve springs, a screaming 9,500 rpm redline, 412 lb weight and genuine 102 mph capability. The first examples had four-speed gearboxes. The crankcase was split horizontally to avoid the oil leaks that plagued British bikes, an electric starter was fitted, and constant velocity carburetors meant smooth running. 18-inch wheel rims, gas tank and fenders were steel. On Aug-19-18 at 09:41:02 PDT, seller added the following information: The odometer shows 10,807 miles but I recall the previous owner mentioning that the speedometer had been changed due to a broken needle. The mileage seemed correct for the condition of the bike but I cannot be sure it is the actual mileage. I apologize for the late addition of this information.
