Vehicle Detail
1987 El Camino SS 48,6xx milesThis is a nice old el camino that runs and drives strong. Looks great for a 31 yr old car. They're getting snatched up, examples like this don't come along everyday. Drivetrain:Completely rebuilt original 305 motor (just drained the 500 mile oil). 200r transmisson shifts great. Fresh trans-fluid flush and filter, has a small leak around the speed sensor, and linkage needs new bushing - neither is annoying enough to fix right now.Brand new edelbrock carbedelbrock performer intakecrane 1.52 :1 roller rocker armsnew water pumpHooker full length headersPypes 2.5' inch dual exhaust with x pipe crossoverdual exhaust CrossmemberAll Aluminum Radiator160 deg thermostat Airbag helper suspensionNewer KYB shocks Front and Rear. Newer brakes268 grind cam -Stainless steel water hoses and billet aluminum adjustable billet thermostat housingNew MSD type HEI distributor with remote blaster coilIssues:There's a bit of a rpm drop when putting into gear - I suspect the converter, otherwise drives greatThe new carb could use some refined tweaking-- runs great but I'd want to use a sniffer to be sure it's perfect. The oil pressure gauge sender has developed a slight leakThe o-ring around the sensor in the transmission (speed sensor?) has a slight leak.AC is complete but not charged, I was going to convert it to use the newer stuff.Exterior:No rust, overall really straight, good looking elky. 1987 was last year for them in productiona few slight dings along the side of the body, otherwise pretty straight for being 31 years old. Has new 15" 60's profile tires and corvette 8" rallye (rally) rims - the front passenger side center cap and trim ring are gone - got swiped at the HDThe previous owner must've towed it behind an RV, as it has a driveshaft disconnect cable by the rdiver seat that will disconnect the driveshaft from the rear end via a coupler. In addition to the class III hitch in the back, he also welded two 2" receivers in the front - at the cost of the front valence. The bumpers have a bit of a lean for some reason - I think to fit the hitch. There's a golf ball sized ding in the driver end capA tiny bit of clear coat peel on the front of the hood Bed is scratched up but not rusted or badly dented.Windshield is cracked but passed inspection in MayInterior:Carpet has stains but intact overall - still has the curtain in the rear and what looks to be the original spare. Some stains and couple small burn holes in the seats. Driver seat side has a small ripDash console has one small tear above the gauge pod areaAlpine tape deck -great for relivin' 1992Needs a headliner. Gauges all work and console is overall great shapethe plastic surrounding the Parking brake release has cracked and you have to hold it to pull Great car - but it's a long running project and it's time to get rid of it. We may be interested in a PARTIAL trade for a nice running recent model pickup. Preferably along the lines of a long bed taco or nice z71 (no ford, sorry) AND no more than 5k max on trade .
