Vehicle Detail
1948 MG TC W/ XPAG/TD engine. Appears car was setup for racing at one time. TD engine has a Marshall Supercharger. Car runs but needs a lot of tender loving care. On Jul-31-18 at 12:34:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I've owned this car, TC#4412, for the past 30 years. This is a running, driving TC with great potential, that you can drive until you decide what you want to do with it. It has been sitting for the past two years, but started right up. It is basically a solid and complete car with a 70's "restoration", and a replaced TD engine #XPAG/TD2 21253. Most un-restored TCs have structural weakness, but the timbers on this car seem completely solid. The old re-paint is obviously flaking and there is surface rust, but no visible rot . The fender tips are tender, since they are so exposed. I'm sure some bondo was used when it was re-done many years ago. The interior looks good with newer Moss leather seats and door panels, and the car also has a wonderful, period wood-rim steering wheel. It is pretty clear that the car has some racing history: it is fitted with a correct, vintage Marshall-Nordec J75 supercharger and H4 carb that boost the HP by probably 25%, and a period Mallory swan's-neck distributor, a dual-point unit that was often fitted to race cars in the 50's. Finally, there are extra racing gauges on the dash for water temperature, oil temperature (not connected) and Vacuum boost . In short, this is a good, solid TC that has been off the road for a few years but was frequently driven before then, that could use new brakes, tires and suspension bushings to be a safe ride with every appearance of a "survivor." I'm happy to answer any questions about the car, or to provide any more photographs.
