Minor paint imperfections consistent with age and mileage. Bottom Line: Well-maintained car by automotive enthusiast. Car's computer shows all maintenance up to date. Clean Carfax. LONG VERSION: Selling my ACCIDENT free, beautiful condition 2008 BMW 335i convertible, 6-spd MANUAL transmission, 85,000 miles. I am the second owner and purchased the car in March 2011 with 67,000 miles on it. The car is Platinum Bronze Metallic w/ Cream Beige Dakota leather, has the [ZSP] Sport PKG. [494] Heated Front Seats, [655] Satellite Radio, and [6FL] IPod & USB Adapter. I swapped the Sport Package wheels out for a different style BMW wheel. I purchased the car to replace a 1994 BMW 318ic convertible (also a stick shift) that I drove to 120k miles from new. Since owning the 335i, I've had the following list of items done in chronological order (not including routine maintenance/smaller repairs.) * 3 fuel injectors (warranty at time of purchase, see below) * Front brakes at 69k* Vanos solenoids 72k (see below) * New TPMS (2015)* Rear springs/shocks 81K* 6 new fuel injectors 82K (see below) Most all service for the car has been handled by our local specialty repair shop Portola Valley Garage (PVG). They are an authorized Dinan dealer, although I've never used them for any performance upgrades (This car is plenty fast for me.) You are free to reach out to them to ask them about the service history of the car as well as the condition I keep all of my cars in. I have a particular distaste for both of our local BMW dealer's service departments. In the summer of 2012, the engine symbol came on even though it was running fine. I happened to be minutes away from the dealer, so I dropped it off. They called the next day saying that they recommended $6,000 worth of engine repairs! I took the car to PVG and they replaced the Vanos solenoids for about $800. They said they had seen this issue many times. Problem solved. Most recently, in Sept 2017 I took the car into the other local BMW dealer for the airbag recall. Within 4 hours of me dropping it off, they had called me to tell me that the A/C fan was not working and that I needed a new blower motor resistor ($600 w/ labor) for the climate control. I told them that when I drove the car to them that morning, the A/C was blowing just fine. They said it no longer was working at all. (hmm). I told them no thanks. When I got the car back the next day, sure enough, no blowing. So I spent 10 minutes Googling "E93 no fan", and I ordered the blower resistor from a BMW dealer online for $110, and spent 17 minutes installing it. Yes, it took S E V E N T E E N minutes. Problem solved. Two days after I picked up the car at the dealer with only 6 miles driven since pickup, I went to start the car in the morning and it ran very roughly. (For the first time ever.) I drove it about 10 miles and all seemed fine. Later that day, same issue reappeared, so I had the car flatbedded to Portola Valley Garage. I did so mainly because I knew I'd get an honest diagnostic from them. Turns out that 3 fuel injectors were suddenly throwing error codes (the original fuel injectors that were not changed just before I purchased the car.) I reached out to the Service Manager at BMW sharing with him my frustration/suspicion about a car that ran perfectly the day I brought it to them mysteriously having a climate control fan issue while AT their shop, and a huge mechanical issue 2-days and 6 miles AFTER the car left their shop. Response from Service Manager? "Too bad, so sad. Things break." As I understand it, BMW, since developing these fuel injectors, has gone thru at least 12 updates/versions of the injectors. My car, originally had version 6. Then they replaced 3 of them in 2011, so I had (3) v6 and (3) v7. Well, the current version as of last summer was v12. Guess what, you can't mix v12 with older versions. So I got the most sheepish, apologetic call from PVG explaining the issue and informing me that the repair would be about $3,000 for (6) new v12 injectors. This on a car than ran magnificently before it went to the dealer for the airbag recall. Ouch. (I was given the option of installing (3) used v7 injectors. While it would have saved me $$$, just didn't seem like the prudent fix given BMW's injector woes from 2007-2012.) The car is accident free, although I have had both front and rear bumpers repainted due to scratches. There are a few minor scratches in the paint consistent with the mileage, but the car shows very well. In July 2017 because of a piece of bouncing road debris, there were 2 small scratches in the windshield on the passenger side that were buffed out by a glass repair company. Scratches are gone, but still some imperfection in the glass that isn't really in the passenger's line of site. Also from that there is a 3' scratch in the hood up by the windshield on the passenger side. The buffing and paint touch-up were covered under my insurance and did not involve repainting panels. There are no known mechanical issues. The Continental ContiPro Contact SSR tires are in great shape with plenty of tread remaining. Rims are curb-rash free. No door dings. The interior of the car looks almost new. I recently had some wear on the driver's seat bolster cosmetically touched up by a mobile upholstery company. I take care of my vehicles and it shows. Car was originally sold in Connecticut, in 2011 I shipped to CA. I first registered it in IL, and subsequently in MT. Carfax shows 3 "owners" because the MT registration went under my company instead of me personally. I have been the only driver since 2011, and it has only been in CA during that time. (As far south as Santa Barbara, as far north as Mendocino County.) Of the 6 cars I currently own (including a 2007 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster that I purchased new in 2007), this stick shift BMW is by far, unquestionably, my favorite car I've ever owned and driven. The combination of steering feel, ride quality, and the twin-turbo six and the stick shift are magical. It is a blast. But, after 7 years of ownership, my time with this car is coming to an end. I've got my eye on a couple used R8 Spyder's with manual transmission, but I've got to make room in the garage first. You are free to have the car inspected by a reputable independent shop of your choice. I will NOT take the car to any BMW dealer locally based on my past experiences with them. So, clean car, owned by an automotive enthusiast since 2011, properly maintained, and now updated with the latest fuel injectors. There probably aren't many of these cars out there where owners have spent the money to replace the injectors. This car will come with no surprises. The last car I sold was in October 2017. It was my 1993 Saab 900 Convertible with 60k miles. It was in spectacular original condition. The buyer ended up being in Germany and purchased the car based on my listing description and photos. In his last email to me he wrote the following (happy to show you the original email) ------------Hallo Mark, Last Friday i picked up the Saab in Bremen/Germany and drive home 660 Kilometers (412 miles). He drives very well and I was very positively surprised by the condition. I have already bought other cars in the states which did not have such a good condition although they were all described as very good condition. Thanks again, Ingmar------------ Will gladly assist in coordinating pickup or shipment of car. I have 1 key, the Owner's Manual, and clean title in hand. A bunch more photos, a couple videos, and the CarFax are available and I can email you the link if interested. Thanks for reading. Mark
