Vehicle Detail
Folks in the Hill Country Triumph Club seem to think that I have a knack for selling cars on eBay and are always after me to auction off their cars. Here is my latest listing: You are bidding on a Inca Yellow 1979 Triumph TR7 convertible that is in truly amazing condition. The speedometer stopped working long ago at 14,981 miles...but you can see from the photos that this is a very low mileage TR7. Aside from the right rear quarter panel (according to the owner...I couldn't see it), the body wears the paint it had when it left the factory in Canley. There are just a few chips and scratches, which is more testament to this car's pampered life. The body has no rust or apparent collision damage and the underside looks great. The panel fit and finish is remarkable. Other than the carpet, the interior too, is completely original with no cracks, tears, stains, etc. The replacement carpet is very nice and presents well, matching the tan vinyl/beige cloth seats. The glass and brightwork are outstanding, as are the door panels and all the rubber trim. The top has no tears and its vinyl windows are clear. The smog pump and a/c compressor have been removed but are included, as are a few spare parts as can be seen in the photo. The cool running two liter slant-four engine starts readily and runs eagerly. It is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carbs and electronic ignition, just like when it left the factory. The five-speed gearbox shifts smoothly, although a whirring noise can be heard when the car is in neutral with the clutch out. The clutch itself works beautifully. The brakes stop the car nicely, but pull slightly to the right. The differential is quiet and the suspension provides a comfortable ride with incredible handling. The owner is handy with tools (he is a dentist), but has a large collection of British cars and hasn't found the time to get this one completely sorted out (is that even possible?). The 13 inch Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires look great, but are in fact over ten years old. A couple of the snaps for the top are missing from the cockpit surround. The missing latch on the windscreen frame will be replaced before the auction is over. The sagging front bumper needs the redesigned mounts from the Wedge Shop. The rubber trim around one of the retractable headlights doesn't fit quite right, but when it is removed the mechanism works perfectly. Don't miss the opportunity to own this truly remarkable Triumph TR7! This under-valued classic will definitely sell in ten days, as it is being offered at NO RESERVE!!!
